I know the Pentium 4's tend to run hot, but how hot should it be running. Mine is at stock speed of 2.4 ghz and its idling at about 54c and is 74-77c at load. This time of year the room temps is at about 20c so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm thinking I should buy some new thermal paste, the computer is about seven years old...

thats perfectly fine for a pentium 4,and if its a prescott,then even better because prescotts tend to run hot

7 years old? That beats my laptop which is 6 years old It can still max out halo :) Do you game on your P4 at all?

70C is probably normal for that thing.........still might be best to buy some mx-2 and reapply it or something, get the cleaning kit too.

Heh, heck no. It can barley run an internet browser without lag :D

Oh, btw, it is running at these temps with the side off the computer with an extra, small fan on the floor blowing into it
