Alright my new parts to my PC are coming in and I guess I want to know if I should dual boot or just make it easier on myself and just get vista. Ive heard that its gotten a lot better and game performance has increased enough to make it worthy of a purchase.

Any help would be great.

Go on, make the jump. You won't regret it. if you find you're having probs with games(of which i've had none), use program compatibility. Don't understand why some people are scared of it.

Oh Vista... I'm using Vista 64-bit and I would recommend it over the 32-bit version. Yea, some people will say that "The drivers aren't mature enough for 64-bit Vista" but the drivers aren't as mature for Vista as they are for XP in general... but they're mature enough...

I have basic 32 and 64 and I usually use 64 just cause I have some stuff that uses 64bit and 6gb of DDR2-800 ram :) XP actually gives me more troubles than Vista idk why I guess its just an old ver with SP2 installed

just know that if you plan on running 4gig of ram 32 bit vista only reads up to 2gigs leaving your other 2 being pointless 64bit can run 4gigs. That is why i went with 64bit works fine so far

I also recommend making the jump, you won't regret it (especially with BioShock coming out the day after tomorrow).

If you're asking if BioShock is 64-bit compatible, then indeed it is. If you're asking if I'm using 64-bit Vista, then indeed I am.

Vista's fine--go for it. If your PC's OK for gaming in the first place, then gaming with Vista won't hurt at all.

Vista's gotten a lot better (to me) just two weeks ago, when MS released their "Performance and Compatibility" patches. Before that, my PC would give me the BSoD about twice a week, and it always happened when I was trying to access a network (such as print off a shared printer or play a movie off the server). I always thought that my mobo's NIC wasn't fully compatible with Vista. After installing the performance and stability updates, though, I stopped getting those BSoDs and various other error messages.

So, if you get Vista, you'll want to download these Performance and Compatibilityupdates off the MS website (it doesn't come through automatic updates because validation is required).

In that case I might get the game then... Ive been looking for a good 64bit game

I want to see how well this game performs in DX10. Im still on the fence with HD 2900XT and the 8800GTX. I have a feeling that the Hd 2900XT is more geared towards DX10 than DX9. Even though with the newest drivers performance has gotten better.

I hope so :P Im guessing it will do better too because it has alot more(tho different built but still thats alot of stream processers :P) stream processers tho I know I know there built different and all that just a guess. Plus it comes with the black box I mean how cool is that! I think you should stay with your 7900GT unless you have alot of money sitting around because that will play games for awile tho not in dx10 but we still dont know if the dx10 cards can really play the dx10 games tho.

i would say dont get vista at all i had vista on my comp all it did was slow everything down. its better than when it first came out but still bad. i have 2 gigs of ram and it would take 60% of it sometimes, my printer also dosnt work with vista. to me there is no reason to get vista unless you have a dx10 card and i dont so i went back to xp mabye ill go back to vista when sp 1 comes out if it fixes a lot of stuff.
