It's a great principle, that is the victim of a pure lack of application and execution. It would help things if the PhysX card could also help with accelerating physics calculations with other game engines, such as HavoK, Source, etc. Problem is, Ageia wants devs to only use their own API for being able to interface with and accelerate physics with this card. Then there's the catch-22 situation with the card. In order to employ it at its best, a game/app has to be made in a manner where it's assumed that all users would have the hardware card available. but in doing that, it can greatly affect performance, or not even let you run it at all, if you happen to be a user without the card. The majority of people don't want to buy a PhysX card until there are more (great) games that use it. And devs don't want to make games that use it until there are more people that buy these cards. If Source were to say be updated to allow acceleration with the PhysX card, I would totally have bought it. But as there are no games that I'd want to play on my PC that do use it regularly, I have no compelling reason to buy it other than for pure bragging rights.
