All of the excitement around the Diablo 3 announcement has encouraged me to go back and visit some other more classic RPG's I missed the first time around. Namely Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal. I found an awesome mod that converts any game based on the Infinity Engine (this includes the BG series, Icewind Dale Series and or course Planescape Torment - which originally could only be played in 640x480!)

Here are some screenshots of Planescape Torment in full widescreen

Here's the mod

I wonder why no one does the same thing with the likes of Diablo 2 or Fallout?

But that's actually sweet. Never knew about this.

Yeah, I've been looking for a Diablo mod that would do this but so far no luck. I found two and neither one worked for me.

An interesting thing about Torment is that it could've been in a higher resolution, but the deal BIS had with Bioware prevented them from releasing any Infinity engine games in a resolution other than 640x480 until BG2 came out. It makes sense that it'd be easy to patch higher, wide-screen resolutions into the games.

Fallout, on the other hand, would probably require a hefty code rewrite to be able to support higher resolutions.

Hey, why isn't that mode working for me?...I already installed version 1.1, and the packfix, but the widescreen mode gives me an error

There IS a high resolution patch for Fallout 2, and I'm pretty sure there's one for Fallout 1 too, if not even Fallout Tactics also.

I am in fact about to post about this mod. I am using this mod for playing baldur's gate 2 in wide screen. A great mod.
