is it worth the 40 bucks to join the beta?

Its out in a month, but if your plan on spending money on in game stuff yes, as you get 40 dollars of sony cash, plus some other stuff
Just wait for it to come out I'd say. Combat is twitchy in close quarters and mid range when you use the assault classes. Overall the shooting is very twitchy. I feel Planetside 1 is better.
Can't wait, been looking for a new FPS and I've heard nothing but good things about this game so far.
Definitly get the alpha squad if you were considering putting some time into the game. With the way Sony has been slashing jobs, this game needs all the support it could get.
I'm excited for this game. Me and my friends used to play the sh*t out of the original PlanetSide, and now we're adults and have a higher degree of access to vent? It's going to be nuts.
The game runs like crap on my PC although the graphics aren't all that impressive. I get around 30fps on max and it drops when I get into a decent sized battle or when flying, which is a joke. I haven't really played enough to form a good opinion on the gameplay though.
[QUOTE="RizziSmoov"]This game still runs like turd on my overclocked phenom 2 955 and 5850 on low and I'm talking 15-22 FPS on large battles. That's not good to say the least; let's hope that yesterday's patch wasn't the big optimisation push Smedley was talking about.Gammit10Is that phenom a dual core? Have you turned the rendering quality down to at least 75%? How much RAM do you have, and on what type of hard drive is the game installed?
Phenom 2 9xx are quads.
Game is badly unfinished, the devs ignore most of the beta feedback, and Smedly is forcing a release because they want money ASAP. Do I blame him/them for rushing to release? No, but the afromentioned facts are the reasons that COUNTLESS mmo's fall on their face at launch and never recover...

Devs are almost never to blame, blame Sony, and blame SOE for not being able to stay on a time table. PS2 was supposed to be out in the summer, and i guess Sony gave them a date it needed to be out by

That's why I separated it, Smed is the Pres of SOE, he announced the date and he's to blame for releasing. The devs however are to blame for not taking the beta community's feedback... Regardless, like most new toys the population will boom for the first month, and them plummet hard as the months progress...[QUOTE="James161324"][QUOTE="Erratic_Knight"]

I say enjoy PS2 to the fullest no matter what happens. It'll be F2P so aside from time invested, you really have nothing to lose from playing.
