Ok, I'll admit I haven't played a whole slew of mmorpg's. But like most roleplayin' gamers, I have invested a LOT of time into the ones I have. Mainly EQ 2 & GW. I, on a personal level, believe EQ 2 was a great game. I dunno why it's not more popular than it is. It's right up there with WoW, IMHO (although I've watched about as much WoW played as I've played WoW and yes, I admit, WoW is pretty sweet). Anyways, I like being an important role. Not to say any one role is less important than the other. A group whether fighting NPC's or PC's, is only as strong as the weakest link. But I believe with a good healer and MT (main tank) and at least 1 good Damage Dealer, a group can be carried to an extent. You're never going to win any Tourney's without a solid full party, but I've seen some amazing things happen with a strong aforementioned 3. If I had to pick a favorite role, personally, it would be MT in EQ 2. Lots of responsibility. Keeping aggro, keeping yourself wealthy for the armor etc. to take some blows, and the beauty of keeping your whole team alive even with a worthless healer (Pally's were way underrated, true I didn't level to 50 when the game first came out like the Guardians did, BUT I was more valuable in smaller groups and could solo whenever I wanted, with no problem. In GW, tanks seem.. hmm.. not so necessary. Yes they're nice, but there's no real good aggro system, for better or worse. Basically a tank is just a meat shield that is only good for staying alive long enough to res. the healer and hoping you're fighting a weak team that concentrates on trying to PK you. I'm primarily a W/MO in GW and there's nothing more satisfying than a group trying to take me down first, laughable, but that's when things work out for the best. I mainly try to stay alive and res. healer when healer falls and try to do as much damage as my poor War can. I think most importantly in GW is the healer. It's hard to say this with a lot of conviction, actually. They're the most vital, but barely. A strong damage dealer in GW *Elly, ahem* can throw a wrench into things. I just basically would like to hear about all the MMO's out there. Which character class is consistently the most vital? Also, if you know - is there any hope for a W/Mo in GW PvP? Thanks :)

I'm a mid-range aggro damage deal. Or in shorter terms, a Ranger (Guild Wars)

I enjoy playing both healing and crowd control classes, as both make the difference in a group's survival. In Everquest (one) I played a druid, which does a little of both.

I personaly like playing the mass damage classes. In Guild Wars I really like my Fire Elementalist / Priest because not only can I lay down mass amounts of damage I can heal.

I like to play classes that noone else likes to play.

In Guild Wars, my fav character is my Mesmer, she has beaten Prophecies in Normal AND Hard Mode.

In Diablo 2 i remember using a Werebear Druid, Poison Dagger Necro, and Lightning Strike amazon.

I could never get the hang of playing Mes. It's probably because I haven't tried hard enough.

I tend to like main tanking or DPS. Though I just started playing Guild Wars and really like how you can combo classes. Got a War/Monk going and it's neat to be able to take damage and still have some self healing and damage spells. I usually never play a "clothie" class like Mages or Main Healers though. Just not my playstyle.

It takes some practice, but its very rewarding when you master a Mesmer. She was my first and fav character, going through GWEN with her now. Speaking of Gwen, she's usefull as a Mesmer interrupt hero as well.

My Dad is a mesmer in GW. Mesmer's are a very potent cl@ss. I had to somewhat learn them when beating your shadow to ascend in the crystal desert (my Dad couldn'taccomplish this, lol, it's ok he tries). I never underestimate the bad @$$ness of a mesmer in GW. Someone who is a good mesmer, will frickin' pwn an ill-equipped Warrior.

I'll try again during Christmas Break, where I have a month off.

Guild Wars: E/Me here, I seem to lean towards indirect support classes, you know, the ones that debuff mobs, make them easier for everyone else to kill.

World of WarCraft : Hume Warlock, same reason as above, that and the fact I like the pet benefit, not a bad solo job, plan to take up a NightElf Druid someday whenever the heck I get back into playing it.

Final Fantasy XI : Red Mage, jack of all trades, master of only enfeebling magic. Good well-rounded job, a bit too desired in events though, I barely get to use my other two jobs (Summoner & Puppetmaster) because of it, regardless, it at least means I'm needed in most things.
