I have, though my first taste was several years after the game's release. Still holds up quite well, and the FPS-with-RPG-elements aspect makes it kind of feel like a Deus Ex lite made several years prior. Source port support is particularly limited for a Doom-engine game, though. Try Vavoom or GZDoom.
It's definitely more on the FPS side, rather light with the RPG elements, which basically amount to buying better gear and dialog options, doing errands for certain people (not all of which are as simple-and-straight-laced as they seem), along with a decision that can lead down toward one of two endings. There isn't much in the way of stealth, far as I can tell. You do have one mission where you disguise yourself as one of the oppressors you've been fighting and sneak into a base, but along the way, you eventually have no choice but to cross this one point which sets off an alarm and renders your disguise moot, leaving you to go guns-blazing. As for the System Shock comparison, they're very different, since Strife isn't anywhere near survival-horror and has plenty of non-hostile NPCs to interact with. You're also not stranded on a space station/spacecraft, and there's no cyberspace to mess around in.
