Well, I love Guild Wars. Mostly because I'm a casual gamer and I can't justify $15 a month to only play 5-20 hours per month. (some months I don't even play at all :/ )
Guild Wars is less grind oriented than many other MMOs, and its play style is completely different. I actually prefer only being able to use 8 skills instead of having 30 or so at my disposal, as I feel it adds an extra layer of challenge. Most of the community is pretty friendly and willing to chat. (which was NOT the case when I played D&DO)
GW is much more direct and mission oriented than WoW. You can still grind in GW, it's just not as rewarding. Instead, the purpose really is to play through the campaign. GW also has a pretty good, consistent, and competetive PvP scene.
If you just want a fun regular ORPG to play with friends, kinda like Diablo 2 was fun, then I highly suggest it. It's script isn't the best, but it's pretty good for the most part, minus Factions, and is a lot of fun to play with friends. The community can be a little snobbish, but for the most part is pretty good and friendly. The PVP is pretty fast paced as well, and the game is highly tactical since you are limited to only using 8 skills at a time.
If you decide to get it, I highly suggest you start with either the original (Prophecies) or Nightfall (has hero's and the best story of the three). DO NOT start with Factions. It is the hardest of the three games, and it's script, voice acting, pacing, and level design are horrible. Start with either Nightfall or the original, then get whatever one of the two you passed up when making your first purchase if you still want more. After you have made it through those two, if you still want more and Eye of the North still isn't out, then get Factions.

That's good. With a full time job, 10 month old and full time college I don't have much time either. The price came down too, now it's only $29.99. Thanks fo the reply!
I've been thinking about getting Guild Wars, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. The GS review is 9.2 and it sounds like a winner, but I want to know what everyone else thinks. Thanks.N64ever
I played GW for 2 weeks and got 2 characters up to max level. HATED the item creation system. Really didn't care for it one bit. I prefer level progression over PvP and GW just didn't deliver. It's the only game I have ever quit after 2 weeks that I didn't beat.
