I installed F3 on my External HDD and have since been trying to play it at my college campus, since i spend most of my time there. But whenever I execute the launcher from my HDD, it asks me to install. Anyone have any idea why?

I got two fallout 3 directories in my pc. Both working. Therefore it propably has to do something with the external hard drive.

Then propably has to do with something os isntallation related. For example your pc at your home has the values that appear on registry when install fallout 3. But the pc at the campus is completly foreign to those values and changes. You need to install the game at the external hard drive by using the pc at the campus.

I would be surprised if your campus computer would even let you install the game to begin with. The ones at my university don't let you install anything.

I think he means his computer that he owns which is at campus, not the one's that the college owns.

hehe well dude, if you look fast, dunno how fast the installation goes depending on your CPU but for the 5 first seconds of the installation you can see it copies files first of all to your probably C drive on your computer and later on the rest of the game on your external HDD, same if you'll install on different partition or another HDD which isn't portable on your PC - first it installs few files to your OS HDD, then the rest of the game where you chosed
