Hi there,

I have been interested in playing some older games such as Diablo 2 on my PC, but I get annoyed by how the game's picture stretches out to fit my widescreen monitor. Its really annoying because it distorts the image. I want to buy some old games from Steam as well, but since older games do not have support for widescreen, it turns me off... is there a way I can stop the screen from stretching and simply add some black bars around the sides instead? have Windows Vista and nVidia graphics card. I have been trying to search for some options to do this but can't find anything... any suggestions?

Thanks in advance :)

I would either play windowed or look in the screen settings, there must be something in there to do just that.

Google Widescreen Gaming Forum. It's a wiki where you can search older games and it'll tell you if you tweak them to make them widescreen.

"C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -W W must be uppercase and replace the path by your actual game path

or in your GPUs control panel you can set it so it puts black bars on the side so it keeps the games actual aspect ratio. It's what i use. For ATi it's a bit bugged, if you do have an ATi there's a tool for the scaling fix, I have it, I can email it to you if you wish. For Nvidia, it's in the control panel, i forgot where exactly, but should be set to Maintain Aspect Ratio.
