Clicking is not a good sound to hear with hardrives. The data probably isn't gone, but the unit may be damaged and might not work anymore. If the data is really important, might want to look into a place that does recovery.

You're terrible.

TC, I'd suppose a computer specialty store will be able to help you. If people can bring up credit card reports from wiped HDD's that have been thrown away, they can get your information back. Be careful with it and bring it in, the platters will still have your information on them.

Uncalled for.

Anyway , listen to what the others said. thier is always a way to get stuff off of drives , just need to find the right person/place.

I cannot promise you it's not all gone.

But the same thing has happened to me before. Try taking it to some computer shop and ask if they do hard disk recovery or if they can refer you to someone who does. When I had my HD recovered, I got about 80% of my data back. Be prepared to pay an unfair amount. I paid close to $1000 cdn, but I had no choice as the contents were crucial to me.

Wow man I'm really sorry to hear you lost your book!!!!!!! Your external HDD lost all your stuff to that crazy! I would email the company you got it from and seriously complain.

You might try this website here: http://www.ontrackdatarecovery.co.uk/

At least they might be able to point you in the right direction.
