Please help a frustrated PC gaming ameteur

Right now i am about to pull my hair out.

First of all as the title says I am literally 3 weeks into PC gaming and while competant at easy computer tasks have very little technical knowledge.

My computer is an ASUS G53SW Rep of gamers (i7, NVIDIA GTX460, 6GB RAM)

Ok here is my problem. I recieved a retail copy of STALKER SoC today and installed it fine, opened it to check it worked, and it did. Then I downloaded STALKER Complete mod and installed it. Ever since doing that when I try to play the game it wont start. All i get is the first 3 screens (THQ, Game World and ASUS) then a black screen that can only be got rid of with the task manager. Have un and then reinstalled it....same problem. I have been trawling forums to try and find a similar problem and possible fix but most of the problems are from Steam downloads.

So this is my last option, a wining email to the gamespot community.

Can anyone help me out? And remember i need the most simplified directions.

You gotta patch it first if you havn't done so. I Just installed Stalker SoC about a couple weeks ago and here is what I did.

1. Put in the disc and fully installed.

2. Dl'd the patch and installed.

3. Got the complete mod and installed that.

4. Have fun and play a great game.

PS: You must patch or I don't think it will work, so that is most likely the problem.

How do i patch the game? Is it from the in game menu because it doesnt start up?

Ok im on it. Got to work the morra so bed time now. Will try it in the morning.
