I can't seem to make up my mind. Should i get the dell XPS m1730 or a new macbook pro? which do you think would be the better for me? The things i will be doing is movies, games, web and some school work. Or should i just get a desktop and trick it out if i'm going to spend all this money. what would you do if you where in my shoes.

I dont think the 9450 is worth a $100 over Q6600 even if you have alot of money.I would get the Q6600,drop to 780i and get a better monitor.

And SLI is just a total waste for 22" or smaller LCD.

Me too, just because you have it doesn't mean you should blow it all. I'd be happy with an 8800GTS 512mb even.

Yes totally agreed that it's foolish to blow all your money away. The market right now is in the way that spending too much on a GPU is not needed and that doesnt mean that you must SLI just becasue top GPU's are going for just $200.

Save your dough for a "near future" upgrade rather than SLI.;)

The Q9450 is 45nm, it's clocked higher, and it has 12mb of L2 cache. You do know that both the 780i and Q6600 are based on old manufacturing techniques, and the 780i is based on the 680i architecture, right? This means much less overclocking headroom... He was looking at a $2500 laptop, so he can upgrade the monitor without losing anything....
