With that PSU, I wouldn't put a good video card in there. You're going to need a new PSU if you are going to upgrade, what is your budget?

My budget is $175

I am willing to upgrade

how much do I need to power it?

and what graphics card should I place along with the new psu?

That budget is more than enough. You could probably fit a HD 5770, but it would be overkill for you CPU so I would suggest something a little cheaper. What do you want this upgrade to accomplish? Any games in mind?

Antec Earthwatts 430 watt

and

HD4850 512mb

$160 total and with shipping should still be just within your budget.

Yeah, that'd probably be a good pick.

gh I forgot to ask this but when upgrading the PSU its just switch the cables?or do I need to apply some settings ? Just curious to see because I think it could give more power than required(I'm pretty sure this is a noobish question so please bear with me ;;)

Just switch out the cables. No settings tweaks.

The graphics card will require drivers though, so you'll need to strip out your previous video drivers before installing the new ones.

Okay then that and knowing how to keep static electricity away should be enough to do this upgrade myself :)
