Core 2 duo for gaming. X6800 isn't cheap, but it's top of the line. Spend another hundred - 2 hundred bucks and double the cpu load with a quad core QX6700.

if you don't have enough money you can buy a AMD ATHLON 4200+ (or higher) 64bit AM2 , but a  intel core 2 duo is a better.

wtf is an AMD Saphron, you mean sempron? stay away from those.

your motherboard is really old, and im 95% sure it doesnt have a pci-e x16 slot on it, you would be better off doing a completely new build.

if you have enough cash, C2D is currently the way to go. if you are on a tight budget, go with AM2.

Intel will be droping their prices on C2D on July 22 2007.  So it may be worth hanging fire until then.

Why are you guys recommending CPUs that probably won't work with his motherboard? Your motherboard supports Socket 754 CPUs.

Buy what I have

Core 2 Duo 6600 - Excellent processor, and now down to $220!  That is a freaking awesome price for a seriously good proc.

P5n-E SLI - Great 650i based mobo, plenty of OC options, good ram compatibility, up to 1333mhz native FSB, and for $120 it's the best bang-for-your-buck you can get IMO.
