Corsair 450w should be enough.

Recertified? I honestly think buying a brand new power supply would be a better decision than getting something that was previously broken :?

As for the power supply, I would suggest the BFG GS-550 power supply. That would be able to power what you have easily. It's cheap too :D

I would personally go for the 650 watt Corsair as you do not want to have to replace the PSU when you upgrade to more power hungry hardware.

Theres nothng wrong with Recertified or Refurbished products, and for the most part they are new. The company takes the product that broke or was returned look at it repair whats broke, clean it and resell it. And a 700w psu for $70 vs the same new one thats $120.

Again theres nothing wrong with Recertified or refurbished items that were checked and or repaired from the company that made them. But for $70 for a $120 psu thats a good deal.

The HX650 is good, but really pricey. Even if he has the money for it, he could just buy an OCZ 700w ModXStream, enjoy crossfire/sli and modular capabilities, and still have money to spare. If you're talking current needs though, the GS-550 would be more than enough. Heck, that thing can even power a 5850 comfortably :P

Well that's a nice PSU too, but if he has the money he should go for the Corsair, we don't know his budget though. As long as he stays away from refurbished items lol.

Make sure it's a good brand. A lower wattage Corsair is most probably better than let's say a 550w lower-quality brand. 450w Corsair is plenty to power your system, and if you certainly are looking for an upgrade in the future you can go for the 650w, although it's more expensive.

Any 500w+ psu with a 70+ efficiency ratting and 25A+ on the 12v rail/s will do the job. But if you want upgrade options in the future then pick up a 600w 80 plus efficiency rating with 40A+ on the 12v rail/s. Brands to look for like Corsair,Antec, OCZ, Seasonic etc.

I'd definitely stay away from refurbished, especially when you're talking power supplies. Remember, when a power supply goes up in smoke, it can take other components out with it. Never, ever skimp on your PSU. As for me, I went overkill and got an 850 Watt Corsair PSU. It'll last me as long as I care to upgrade my current setup. After having a PSU die on me on a new computer (after 16 days), I sleep better at night knowing I have a Corsair powering my system now. Thankfully, the PSU that blew didn't take anything with it. I got lucky. How do you feel about gambling?

Also have to realize too is that recertified or refurbished products are almost all returns from previous owners that returned product. They clean them up check them to see if they are working and then resell, They dont take a time of day to try to fix a returned broken item because its cheaper to replace the item with a new one.

Bottom line ir is not smart to by refurbished PC equipment. It is like shopping for clothes at a thrift store.
