You all might have seen a couple of my posts on help with building a new computer , well I finally got all the parts a couple of days ago and assembeled it last night. Im almost positive I have done everything properly and made sure I constantly touch a metal object inbetween touchig my hardware to ground myself.

My problem is when I power up my computer the whole thing turns on , My motherboard light is on , my fans and lights are on , my HDD boots up , but my monitor is not displaying the bios. I have already searched topics on this but could not find anything to satisfy my questions.

The sapphire video card has two DVI placements in the back instead of a DVI and a VGA like normal. My monitor (Proview 22 inch LCD) is compatible with both VGA and DVI. (I use my monitor as a screen for my PS3 as well).

I have tried putting both my DVI-HDMI cable into the HDMI to DVI little head connector thing in both DVI slots on the video card with nothing. I have tried using the VGA cable with the VGA-DVI cable on both DVI slotswith nothing as well. I have even used a extremely old monitor with a VGA cabke with the VGA-DVI cabke in both DVI slots as well.

I need help finding out what I can do to fix this , my monitor should be running this and im almost completley positive nothing has short circuited or suffer from static shock. I was incredibly careful and never heard or felt any shocks when I wasl assembling.

Could the video card be booting up in a mode the DVI doesnt read for the bios? Is there a way to change it so my monitor can display the bios so I can install windows?

Im so lost , frustrated and upset. I really hope nothing is wrong and I will have to replace something and its just wire/booting troubles.

Please help me!

Are you sure the Mobo is booting up? Do you hear a beep when you turn on your computer?

I don't hear a beep , but the little light is on.

Also my computer has started to boot up , with the lights turning on , but then they shut off for about two seconds then come back on.

If it helps at all , the fans are all working.

Hi Sounds like you might have a bad video card. You have to make sure it is plugged in to the slot properly. Make sure the power to the computer is off or the power cord removed before you work on the computer. Also make sure you have the PCI power plug connected to the end of the card. If you still have problems what I would suggest is you can take your card to a local computer shop and have it tested.

Ok , I did more with the video card. I have moved it to the second pci-e 2 slot adn its still the same. The video card does flash a red light whenever my computer starts up and the fan on the card is also working. I'd like to try the card in another computer to see if something changes but none of my other computers can hold it.

have you tried to put the monitor into the motherboard VGA plug, if that works then install your card later after you get the computer set up

His motherboard doesn't have onboard video... Try booting with one stick of RAM. Also make sure you have the 4-pin power cable plugged into the motherboard, and power on the video card if it has one.

If that fails, pull the motherboard out of the case, connect nothing but power and video (no drives, no sound, no etc, and set it on something no conductive, like the foam it was shipped in), and try again. If that doesn't work, something is obviously wrong. Could be your board doesn't like the RAM, or the video card or motherboard is bad.

Try the other one by itself and see if it works. If that works maybe try two again. Maybe they werent seated properly.
