Sounds like a virus. I had a trojan a while ago which did the same.

Could be a power supply issue(ie dieing). Playing games can be taxing on your system sometimes, so your powersupply is wearing down and cant provide enough to a part, and bam comp shuts down cause power got interrupted

it also could be overheating. Check your temperatures. Go download everest. check your teams, and come back here and we will tell you if those temperatures are good or not.

It might simple be that you have loaded a lot of stuff on the machine. Try uninstalling things that are not needed and removing as much as you can from startup.

Might want to check if you have any virus or spy-ware. Then the PSU.

For a P.C. to just be shutting down or rebooting on its own, it is usually one of two reasons, either something is over heating (normally GPU or CPU) or your PSU is faulty, but like that other guy said, check your temps.

Sounds like either you have an overheating problem (fan going perhaps) and/or your power supply is on it's way out.

If you happen to be playing FEAR there is one level towards the end that actually for some reason caused cards to overheat and ya mess you up (found this out the hard way).

But most likely culprit is the Power Suppy. Take the side of your case off start up your computer and see if your cpu and gpu fans are running. Also check to see how strong the power supply fan is going. If it is blowing lots of air your good but if it's a weak amount of air and the metal is getting quite hot then ya power supply will likely die soon.

If your power supply smells burnt then it's that. GEt the thermaltake one for like 40 bucks on newegg.com. Works great. It's the 430 watts one. Worth every penny.

My ram went bad on my old computer once and it started to randomly restart sometimes. Get a program to check out your RAM :-)

You mean the buldings part? In that part the frames dropped to 5-10 (I have a 8800 and core 2 duo processor)! Thank god that don't messed up with my GPU!

When you say "cleaning" do you mean wiping the hard drive? If so, a virus or trojan isn't a possibility. If you've reinstalled your software and the problem continues, it's likely to be hardware problems, overheating or PSU (like alot of people have said). I would suggest getting a temperature monitor (either some kind of program or an actual computer thermometer) to check for overheating (60˚C is usually getting dangerous), and if you don't see any problems buy a new power supply.

Sounds like overheating. Make sure to clean all the fans of your case and the heatsink of your CPU.
