i would like to know which game was the most challenging to play, so vote up!

Empire before Darthmod because I could barely play the game at all.
Empire with Darthmod is somewhat exceptionally good, but M2TW and RTW have the best AI from what I have played, although I haven't played napolean yet.
Rome Total War is for me the simplest yet hardest game of the series. Easy to understand and yet hard to manage even at Easy Campaign. took me a sleepless(well almost) week before I finally conquered all settlementscontinue voting! i ain't see no real result.

Shogun total war was definitely the hardest to beat. You could have the best army, the best tactics, best agriculture possible - and still your leader would manage to die within the first 3 years of starting, due to some kind of disease or another...You'd think after the 2nd or 3rd Daimyo had sneezed to death; they might have started to close the windows in winter...
I only played RTW, just a couple weeks ago, so I cant judge :P. Still, I gotta agree with the other poster took me a while to carve up the map even on easy, my towns kept rioting so my stacks of armies thin out trying to keep the peace. Had plentiful of fun fighting Romans and Egypts on opposite ends at the same time.

The beautiful magical mod that fixes crashes, balancing, and AI. It also increases unit sizes and also renews the appearance of some units.
Do you autodecide all your battles?I only played RTW, just a couple weeks ago, so I cant judge :P. Napoleon has eye candy graphics but less gameplay value especially in the campaign mode.(considering the fact that it takes more turns to chunk out a small army of line infantry)...i'm surprised that Napoleon has, well ZERO!

Yeah, I made it harder for myself at the beginning I guess. I got lazy, but than I actually did the battles of course is too easy on easy... still I let Rome and Egypt grew too big by the time I fought them along with riots!!!

me too...it's too troublesome to fight out all the battles. but autodeciding can really give you a pain especially when you're conquering rome and the Brutii and Scipii attack you from all sides and blockading your ports. I lost many men there. one more thing...by the time egypt becomes as big as your empire, they're really hard to beat especially because your techs are now more advanced(and of course, more powerful unit types)[QUOTE="jojo198"]Napoleon has eye candy graphics but less gameplay value especially in the campaign mode.(considering the fact that it takes more turns to chunk out a small army of line infantry)...i'm surprised that Napoleon has, well ZERO!

Everything is improved in Napoleon over Empire.. AI, graphics, gameplay, soundtrack, Optimized ALOT better, better atmosphere, more challenging and an actaul story,etc... only thing that empire has on Napoleon is more factions and a bigger map.
I would love to see Empire as polished and as improved as Napoleon is, they really went all out as far as improving things from Empire goes imo.
Empire might last ya a bit longer then Napoleon but Napoleon is just a perfect package imo and back to the quality of earlyier total war games.

So it's basically a patched version of empire?

Basically everything is improved appon. I thought Napoleon would be exactly the same as Empire, just an expansion pack... but everything that they did in Empire they have fixed, improved and just made alot better of an overall package. Empire is more ambitous, but the overall package in Napleon is far superior.
I couldnt have hoped for anything more in Napoleon to be honest, its fantastic.

it's another game by its own right...but kozzy's right, it's somewhat an improvement for Empire[QUOTE="shakmaster13"]

If that is the case then it's no wonder Empire hasn't been decently patched. I guess they decided to scrap it and sell something that could just as easily be a mod (an ambitious one at that).
It also makes sense why CA hasn't released mod tools as well.
But... they're all so easy.
One of the first times I played RTW (my first TW game) I beat a rebel army of over 1000 units with a Generals body guard and one unit of heavy infantry. Historic victory.
And I almost had another legendary victory in ETW but the game froze and crashed.... didn't play it for quite a while after that.
rebels are easy to beat if their tech's low and you engage them with elite unitsBut... they're all so easy.

I know but they had over 1000 units and I had around 100.... they should of had no trouble crushing me regardless of tech and neither of my units were elite. I was just pointing out how easy the games are because of their dud AI.
