Digital for me. I don't really feel any need to have a physical copy. I spend a lot of time on the computer, so it's easier to just buy a game online and download it. Plus I don't have to drive to the store.
I prefer to buy from disc, because you can usually find a sale price at the store. Downloadable games never go on sale, until at least a year or two. But I prefer to install by downloading, because it is more convenient and I don't have to keep a disc around to play.
I prefer steam because of the auto patching and not having to search for the dvd if you want to play. Only trouble is, although digital purchases should be far cheaper, they're actually more expensive so I find myself buying a lot of games from play.com.
I don't know what it is, maybe they're charging for the convenience and there's probably a novelty tax since it's a relatively new way of purchasing.
Case in point, I preordered left 4 dead on disc from play because it was 5 quid cheaper than buying it from steam, the people who made the game :?
SO I prefer digital, but if the disc is 5 quid or more cheaper (it usually is) I'll buy the disc.
Maybe it's the pricing issue. Steam seemed universally cheap a while back, yet now I keep seeing threads about retail games being much cheaper, which really makes no sense.Physical copy, always.
Uhh.. it's winning over DD? :o I'm surprised.

ROFL DD boxes? I though DD meant direct download. You confused child.DD boxes are waste of space and I don't think I've read a manual in my life.

TV, and sites like this one are constantly pushing digital download - so it seems like that's what most people want. The truth is - that's NOT what most people want. My cell phone company just sent me a letter, saying they were going to charge me an extra $1.50 a month, unless I started receiving and paying my bill exclusively online - - so I dropped them. I'll be looking for a new cell phone provider now - but I'm not going to be bullied into conducting my business online - if I don't want to.Physical copy, always.

With a physical copy, I get that feeling of OWNERSHIP, along with manuals and other sorts of documentation and trinkets. In fact, I miss the days when PC games used to come in those HUGE boxes packed with a good-size manual and other little items (especially Infocom titles and their "feelies").NamelessPlayer
I so agree with this 100%. I miss those good ol' big boxes.
