Okay! I order a used RX 480 8GB from Amazon on 12/30/16. The GPU was dated to come today ( 1/14/17 ). Today I got a E-mail from Amazon saying: New date. between 1/24/17 and 1/26/17. I said WTF?!! ( Also! the seller is from Amazon's warehouse ) I called them up and they said: Between 12/30/16 and 1/14/17 it was SOLD to someone else!! I cancel my order from them! and I was PISSED!! So much so. I want to Newegg and bought a PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 480 8GB. TODAY! So now. I'm thinking of overclocking it in Wattman. I watch youtube videos on how to use Wattman. Any suggestions on how far can I overclock it? In a safe and long time way.

  • Change Frequency MHZ at slider STATE 7 to 1325~1375 MHz
  • Select manual voltage control and set STATE 7 at 1150 (mV)
  • Speed RPM to manual, begin loud at a 4000 RPM target and work your way downwards
  • Set temperature limit to manual, give it say 83 Degrees C
  • Set power limit to 50% extra
  • Memory, enable manual voltage control, set State 1 at 1100 or 1150 mV and increase State 1 slider to 2200~2250 Mhz (x4 = effective).

BTW I do not recommend on OC unless it's necessary - it'll shorter your GPU lifespan due to overload/extra heat.

You just bought a GPU - enjoy it, if not then OC it - just don't forget it'll add only about 3-4fps.

You should relax a bit and deal with the customer service. Let them make it right. Supposedly whenever they fork up they give you $30. Their customer service is top stuff, granted that you don't abuse their returns too many times in which they ban you, other than that they are great.

@PredatorRules: Ok. I won't do that to the GPU. Maybe sometime down the line. When I get money for another one! Thanks!

Not sure I agree with that claim that it will shorten the lifespan of GPU inless you are seriously pushing its voltage and constantly pushing the heat threshold.. I mean take Nvidia gpu boost 3.0 which has the cards automatically overclocking and pushing the pascal gpus sometimes past 2000 MHz from what some people are claiming.. I don't think Nvidia would push a technology that had the possibility of causing your card to prematurely die.. I mean if this were the case you would never want to get a gaming laptop because those chips in many of their models push into the 80s..
