Hello to everybody,

I've just bougth my 2° 2900XT, and I get really bad performance in 3DMark06, and strange behavior under windows Xp.

Under winxp I get around 10.000 points with single 2900XT and 12.000 with two (Crossfire)

Under winVista I get 13.000 in crossfire, haven't tested in single mode.

I also am not able to see presentation of Crysis under vista/crossfire, I see only parts of video, blanking in the top.

Under winxp Everest tells me CrossFire is disabled, under vista say it's enabled, in both cases it's enabled on CCC.

I've got a Q6600 @def installed on a GA-P35-DS4, 2x1GB ram PC8500.

Dunno what the cause may be. I've also got a 750W Thermaltake PSU.

Thanks

P35 chipset only have 16x and 4x lane.... so you wont have a full crossfire setup... X38 chipset have full 16x dual lane.

It is the cause of your bad performance... you need to change mobo to get a x38 chipset

thanks a lot, but how will it improve my performances? I'ts worth enougth to buy another MOBO just to get max of 2900XT, or it's better to sell the two and buy an 8800GTX ultra?

What u suggest?

Thanks

And your case one 2900xt is just fine. If you can return it... and save money.

thanks!

uh... theres something wrong with your cards. i have a single HD2900Pro, and get 11,980 points on 3Dmark06 under XP. check your drivers before you do anything drastic like swap motherboard.

it doesnt matter. surely a HD2900Xt setup in CROSSFIRE (which might i add, is top of the 3Dmark06 leaderboard with 20,000 points plus) should perform better than a single slower card. oh, and i've just checked. his setup is better than mine. he has a Q6600, i have an E6600, and he has faster ram.

Did you just read what I said... the P35 boards don't have full crossfire!!!!!!!!

And answer me this... are you on stock or did you overclock... if you didn't please post your orb link so I can compare.

so what if P35 boards dont offer a full 16X lane. they still provide a 4X lane, so in theory there should be an increase of around 1/3 of the performance of a single card. oh, im running my HD2900Pro at XT speeds. exactly the same. so... yeah.

I'm still waiting for your 3dmark06 comparaison link.

From 10000 to 12000 is a 20% increase... so yeah.
