portal. help me!

Okay here is the deal I load up steam on my pc, I get ready to load up Portal, I type in the cd key and after I do the thing says

Steam Sever is unavailable

or the service may be temporarily unavailable. Please Try Again Later.

So I don't know what to do

My guess is that you should "please try again later". If that doesn't work, post in their help forums or call them.
