Portal question (spoilers)

where does it all fit in, in the half life world?

"im still alive..when your dead" does that have any significane? will the company be in episode three? (what with the black mesa comment)

do you die at the end cos you land and then nothing... it cuts to the zoomin down into the basement

who exactly is it your playing as?

my other question is...who was the one that left the messeges like "the cake is a lie" etc

1.) It's assumed that Portal's relation into the HalfLife universe is through Aperture Science and its rivalry with Black Mesa as both companies were scientifically looking into Portal technology. So we know for this information that Aperture has existed for as long as Black Mesa has. Aswell as this the ship mentioned in Episode2, The Borealis, is an Aperture Science vessel that wean't missing under mysterious circumstances, its assumed there is some portal technology onboard that caused it to teleport somewhere.

From this information alone its likely we will hear or see more about Aperture Science in Episode3 and we may possibly find out abit more about Portal's main character aswell.

2.) I don't think the portal character dies at the end of the game, its more likely she's blacked out after going through everything that she has. However the "fade to black" ending may have just been an artist measure by the developers to end the game as it does leave you with a feeling of mystery, especially after you see the Aperture logo in the car park?

3.) The character in portal is called Chell or Shell i believe, she is an as of yet unknown character who we may see more of in Episode3.

She died in Black Mesa and its been stated before that she isn't Alyx's mother. However if in some weird moment she does turn out to be Alyx's mother i'll give you a cookie!
