I tried getting an answer for this in the PC games board, but seems they wernt interested or just didnt know, so hopfully you guys can help.I recently reinstalled BF2, updated it to 1.50, and when I go to run the game it will just reboot my computer. Once the computer is booted up again, I'll get a error Critical system error message from windows asking if I want to send it away. It also tells u that a .dmp file was made for the error, which iv spent hours trying to figure out how the hell to open it. So Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this to reboot my computer? This is the only game that is doing it, so it has to be something involving BF2. And if you cant help me with whats causing this, then maybe you could give me a hand on finding where to look to figure out whats happening, or help me open the .dmp files.

What kind of video card are you using? IIRC, BF2 requires a DirectX 9 compatible video card, or else the game will crash on start up.

Im using a HD 4870, cant remember if I had used the game with this video card before or not. I upgraded afew months back, and put in a new Motherboard, cpu and RAM but they all seem to be working fine. Im only using DX9 anyway, as Iv only got Windows XP.

Have you tried re-installing after it stopped working?

It never worked after installing. It used to work before I upgraded a few things in my computer about, 1-2 months ago. Iv uninstalled/reinstalled it once since initially installing, Iv tried running without patching it, and after patching it. And Im in the process of installing it too a different HDD too see if that works. Basically everything I have tried so far though, seems to just do the same thing.

Last bump before I give up. Iv installed the game about 5 times now, on 3 different HDDs, used different install discs for the game, and still, im getting the same problem. I find it hard to believe that no one on this board has any idea on how to view error logs on why a computer would be rebooting itself. Help if you can please.
