Awesome! I think that Pentium might be able to play UT, my Athlon is still running strong. UT and Quake 3 still have lots of online players. If I get an Ethernet card for it I will do some old school multiplayer on it.

Sweet, a lot of older games were optimized for 3dfx cards but I never had one. We always had Nvidia or ATI cards or Intel graphics. My old laptop: HP Pavilion n3402 Intel Celeron @ 500 MHz SMI Lynx EM4+ integrated graphics 256 MB SDRAM Damn Small Linux/ Windows XP Professional/ Windows 98 SE Plays UT okay on Windows, (Linux requires OpenGL) I play some Doom sometimes.

It's way too old. The CPU and motherboard dates back from 2001. But, I usually don't get rid of my hardware if they still work.

This was my very first custom rig that I built myself back in 2008.

- CoolerMaster 335.

- ASRock P67 Extreme4.

- Intel i5 2500K.

- 2x4GB Kingston DDR3 1333.

- 2x Asus GTX 460 1GB SLI.

I can't remember the hard drive space. It was most likely a WD Caviar Green 1TB ( can tell by the sticker on top it's Caviar Green).

Sweet! Most of you have AMD processors in your rigs, I always liked AMDs better for cost, I would only get Intel in a pre-built computer.

Barely run Doom? My 500 mhz Celeron laptop has a 4 MB SMI integrated graphics chip and it can play Unreal Tournament without problems, yours should be able to handle Doom! EDIT: For some reason I can't figure out why I can't post pictures. I will post pics of my old Athlon desktop and two old laptops when I figure out how to post pictures correctly.

Perhaps he meant Doom 3. Even my laptop which has a 1.8ghz AMD Turion X2 plus ATI X1200 (terrible) can only run Doom 3 at the lowest settings and frame rates in the teens.

All other previous versions of Doom are 2D and will run fine on even an old 80486.

lol I exaggerated a bit. The computer could run doom, but it simply choked on games like counter strike, it only got about 15fps in 320x240 (software mode) if I remember right.

I had a Pentium II for a couple days but I attempted to change processors and I messed up something (at least it was free). It was pretty good, it ran UT99 with impressive results on Windows 2000. I like UT99 for testing and playing them because most old PCs can play it even with integrated graphics (but best with a 3dfx or a newer card) and it has solid, fun multiplayer that is easy to set up. Quake 3 is also fun but a little more high maintenance since it needs a decent card with good OpenGL support to run at all. Actually, my pet peeve about most older PCs is that they lack integrated video, sound, or Ethernet, which makes things harder to deal with. I know integrated video sucks but it is very good to have when setting up a PC which you can't find a card for or has bad PCI slots.

33mhz 486 ftw!

I remember when we first got a 486 in the library at school, kicked the 386's buttocks. There was a line to use it!
