I'm building most of it via Cyberpower PC and I'm also gonna grab a monitor from NewEgg. The caviat is that it must be under $2000.

Case: Apevia X-Cruiser (Silver)
Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower 600W
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6400  --*Edit* Should be an E6600
Cooling: Stock HSF + 3 Extra Case Fans
Motherboard: Asus P5N-E SLI
RAM: 2 x 1GB Corsair XMS2 PC6400 DDR2/800
Video Card: EVGA nVidia 320MB 8800GTS
HDD: 320GB Sata-II 7200RPM 16MB Cache
Optical Drive: Pioneer DVR-111 16x DVD-R/RW + CDRW Dual Layer
Speakers: Logitech X-540
Extra Thermal Display: Thermal Temperature LCD Display w/3x Fan Controller
Flash Media: Internal 12 in 1
Cable Wiring: Professional Cable Wiring + CPU Thermal Compound
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
Mouse/Keyboard: Logitech Cordless Desktop EX 110 Keyboard & Mouse

Total Cost = $1,797 with free shipping and no tax. As for the monitor, any suggestions for a monitor around $200? I'm currently using a 17" LCD Flat panel that is awesome, the only problems are that it doesn't support DVI (it's 4+ years old) and that it maxes out at 1280x1024. I'm not sure if I'll replace it, though, because I have a DVI-VGA converter and I can always hook my comp up to my 32" HDTV :)

Thanks for any help, guys.

1797, sounds reasonable for that PC... well sorta, If you built it yourself you could possibly save 3 or 4 hundred dollars.

I know, but the powers that be won't let me =P Otherwise I'd give it a shot...it's probably best that I don't do it ;)

That's why i'm gettin' the wireless keyboard/mouse. The only downside is that it maxes out at 1280x720, which I spose at a distance of 6 feet isn't really a problem, heh. Thanks. I might not be able to buy it for a little while, but I'm not the kinda person who's patient...50 bucks off in a month isn't worth the oppurtunity cost in my book =P But yeah, I need to develop more patience...

thats a niec price for that computer. For $200usd, you will be looking at a 19" LCD @ 1280x1024 and that 8800gts 320mb will run that res great, the CPU and that GPU go well together, there wont be a bottleneck.

That's what I figured, either a 19" widescreen or standard. I MIGHT OC the CPU a tiny bit because I've got some nice ram in there and I hear you can OC it as high as 3.5 stable on stock cooling...i'd only OC it a bit just by modifying the FSB a little(I don't want to mess w/voltages), get it up to 2.4-2.6 ish

That was one of the frontrunners as far as monitors I was looking at. The only thing I'm worried about is NewEgg's return policy on LCDs...8 dead pixels or more...eek. I'm not a fan of UPS either =P But yeah, I'm leaning toward that one, thanks!

Newegg will accept the monitor back with any reason. If you receive it and its not working just tell them and you will get a refund/replacement. Believe me, Ive already been there and done that many of times.

Cool, because I've had awesome experiences with newegg so far (except on OEM CPUs =P), but I read their return policy for LCDs and I was a bit worried...I guess that's not for exchanges, but for refunds.

If you order from out of state (illinois for me), they can't charge sales tax.

Those two are the same.

just to comment on that monitor from costco... Costco has an unlimited no questions asked return policy. About 2 years ago i bought a 32'' tv from them for my room and when i new model came out i took the tv back and got a full refund. The only thing that isn't covered under the unlimited return policy is Computers and Laptops and those can be returned within 6 months from the date of purchase. Costco may not have a great selection but they have an unheard of return policy. If you have a costco near your house i strongly suggest buying your monitor from there.

Not anymore.
They recently changed the policy, I believe to 3 months, since they were taking loss from all the returns.

hehe, used the gamer infinity 8800 Pro and configured it as such. I'm chaning it to a 700W PSU, which is gonna add 29 bucks, but it's still a great deal.

Here it is ;) I'm going to go with CyberPower. I know they're notorious for taking a long time to put it together, but as long as it gets here in one piece, I think this price is too good to pass up. The total cost is $1445 (+65 tax) = $1510. Case - Apevia X-Discovery (Blue) CPU - Core 2 Duo E6600 CD/DVD - Pioneer DVR111-Dual Format 16xDVD+-R/+-RW + CD-R/RW Dual Layer (Blue) Flash - 12-in-1 Internal flash reader (Blue) Freebie - CyberPower T-Shirt HDD - 320GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache Keyboard/Mouse - Logitech Cordless Desktop Ex 110 Motherboard - Asus P5N-E SLI LGA 775 Memory - 2x1GB PC6400 DDR2-800 OS - Vista Home Premium Extra - Professional Wiring PSU - ThermalTake ToughPower 700W Extra - LCD Thermal Display + 3x Fan Controller Video Card - 320MB nVidia 8800GTS I keep telling myself I want to build my own system, but this actually come close to the cost of building one via NewEgg....what do you guys think? (NOT about CyberPowerPC, I know how you feel already) I'm thinking that it looks like a good deal, myself.
