well i had another post about building a computer, but i was wondering what u guys think of this

http://www.aeoncraft.com/ac/Store/Configurator.aspx?mid=169&c=468456

I made the comp. an E6420

i took away the speaker, mouse, and keyboard

the total with the tax and 5% off is

$882

That cuts the budget for me down, so that y im wondering if u guys think this is a good buy, notice its dual

8500gt, do u think i should change the 1gb ddr2 to 2gb or leave it since i dont plan on overclocking or what?

If u guys think this is good im also going to buy a monitor from newegg.com much cheaper than adding the price on to the comp. form the site.

This is the monitor i would throw in wiht the comp.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254001

well let me know what uguys think of this

I think you skimped on some things like the psu. You chose to get a psu which comes with the case most of the time you want to avoid those. Instead of getting two 8500gt's try getting a single 8800gts

Those setups arent bad. The price is not too overpriced and pretty good quality parts.

A different PSU. Get a single card -8800Gts 320GB. And try to fit in 2GB of RAM.

Man they dont give you a good choice of PSUs there. I would choose the TT Toughpower, but thats large money that htey want for it.

I say jump to the

TT Toughpower
2x1gb
8600gt or 8600gts. I would try to get a 8800gts, but you have your budget.

Intel has the better CPUs right now. The whole Core 2 Duo lineup is excellent. Even the lowly E2140 beats the x2 3800+. Anyways, its not like AMD is a slouch, theyre releasing new CPUs coming up here this 2nd half of 2007, but they will be compatible with their current socket am2+.

Hi i was wondering if you guys could tell me if this would be any good Rig and if there is anything you would change. As this is my first build i do not know much about compatibility please help us on this?

....NETWORK CARD....

Will this be compatible please tell us !! Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC

Total without OS = £1010.75p This is the total with that graphics card one of the best avilable if not the best.

Total without OS and A really good GTS = £861.88 this is an amazing option not only was it tested with the Motherboard its suppost to be lightning fast.Obviously not quite as good as the GTX but if you where going to play on say mabye 17" to a 22" monitor this would be very fast along with the Core 2 duo E660 and the PSU.

And last but Not least the Total with A good GTX = £959.40 I would recomend this one out of the lot of them just because it is the Mid range card out of these three cards and at this price it is unbelievable and i would grab this one i i was you because i am if i don't get Ultra because this GTX is Super fast.

Hope this helps.

IF ANYONE SEES ANYTHING IN MY UPCOMING RIG THAT THEY THINK SHOULD BE CHANGED AND OR ISN'T COMPATIBLE WITH THE REST OF THE STUFF PLEASE TELL ME OR SEND ME A PM THANKS.

What is the amount difference between your money and US money, also i dont really plan on overclocking, i mainly just want something that can run games like shadowrun, i dont need to have downright amiazng stuff just enough to make it look good. So if u could suggest an AMD based upon my current status. TY

Motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-965P S3 - $100 (The DS3 is better, but this is a nice board)

CPU:
Intel E2140 @ 1.6ghz - $81 (performs with a AMD64 x2 3800+)

RAM:
2x1gb Supertalent DDR2-800 - $82 (Good RAM company and this RAM can hit 1000Mhz when overclocked @ 5-5-5-15)

GPU:

eVGA 8800gts 320mb - $280 (Great card and very futureproofed at 12x10)

HDD:
Western Digital 160gb/8mb cache - $53 (great HDD company)

Optical:
LiteOn 20x12x20 DVD/RW - $32 (good DVD company)

PSU:
FSP Group 450wt - $58 (Top 5 PSU manufacturers in the world)

Case:
Coolermaster Centurion 5 - $50 (Best case for the price on the market and very very liked amongst modding community)

Operating System:
Windows XP Home w/ SP2 [OEM] - $90 (Dont know if you want Vista or not. I would do XP if I was building)

Total $825

Now I know you want to stay in that price bracket, so throw aSapphire x1950xt 256mbin there. Then the total of verything comes to $725. If you need Dx10 cards and the 8800gts is too much, there is this eVGA with a nice factory overclock on it. Its$195.

yeh thats a gr8 low price tag rig but i thought he said he wanted to shadowrn and for that im sure you need vista DX10 and atleast a GTS so the rig you wrote up is good for him the only other thing he would need is vista home premium or somthing go on ebay to get that.

ahh good call. I didnt even think about Shadowrun on Vista. Yeah so there is a Home Basic from M$, its the same price. but the OEM Vistas I heard are the ones that limit your hardware swapping. Motherbaords mainly though. But good suggestion on the eBay part. I myself am doing Vista Home Premium 32it on a separate HDD.

there is something coming to Linux, Mac and Window XP called the Alky Project. Its to get Dx10 games running on those OSes and shoudl be here by end of July for beta.

well first off that Intel E2140 is a sweet CPU and if you want nvidia, then stick with nvidia. Intel is diong a 50% price cut on July 22, so you might be able to get a better CPU then, but RAM prices should go up to balance it out.

Do the 8600gts then and Vista Home Basic 32bit with the Intel E2140. Im out now, I jsut came back cause I heard a bunch of beeps coming from my PC and it was this program and people are being annoying with messages. Peace now though.

GTS.

If you go with the setup I gave you, it can overclock up to 3.0Ghz no probs, ofcourse with a better CPU cooler. The GeForce 7950gt is a nice card too. Since you dont like ATI. You dont need a Dx10 card to play Shadowrun or any Dx10 game, just need Vista. Its a sales technique. You can hold off with a Dx9 card till you ahve more money.

Okay first off, I love AMD. I have had them for the past 2 gens. I have built about 11 of them of the 30 something I have built. I was going to get a X2 6000+ with an ASUS Crosshair and have some 3.5Ghz @ 1.5v fun :D. Then I got offered a E6600 for $100cdn, I took it. Only an idiot wouldnt, no matter how big a fanboy you are. lol.

So I took it and then had a friend of a friend in Calgary heard I liked PCs and I told him I just got an E6600 and he said he couldnt find one he needed right away. So I sold it to him for $175cdn. I went back to the store asked to see if they happened to just another one and they didnt. they said though, that they did have E6420 for $75 used 3 months too, but returned and they tore it apart and sold the parts seperately. I took it, cause again, only an idiot would pass that up.

I grab a gigabyte GA965P DS3 (Wish they had a P35 DS3R), 2x1gb Mushkin Black (Cancelled my old order of OCZ at the other store). I will say one thing. This CPU, is pretty sweet. I love it. It makes my x2 4400+ look slow in games, i can jsut do everything in programs and applications a bit faster. I can even run a bit more when I stressed the CPU then my x2 4400. I even had that x2 4400 @ 2.7Ghz on stock volts 4 days before I shipped the PC off and it just didnt seem to compete. My scores in 3dmarks were lower. I hit 8821 on 3dmark06 compared to my 9115 with the intel.

I can run Cell Factor like butter now maxed (except per-pixel motion blur). Even my x2 4400 @ 2.7ghz had some stuttering in it. It was a fresh install too, cause I sold him it setup with a HOME XP copy on his HDD with all virus protecion etc and some games. Cell Factor if you have the PC, is pretty fun, but gets boring after a while with bots only. Soon there should be online, considering they just had the first LAN for it and it was a huge success.

I honestly have now become a fence sitter for CPUs. I am now planning on getting a Q6600 and giving my mom this CPU and RAM. She loves it too, we loaded some of her programs on and gave it a whirl. Shes liked it more then her AMD x2 5200 setup I built for her with 2x1gb and a 7600gt (Sims 2/Sim City shes plays @ 12x10).

So I say go Intel and this is coming from an AMD fan. I say go for that setup I showed you, with an eVGA/XFX/BFG 8600gts /7950gt since you love nVidia. That system will be able to hit 3.0ghz if you wanted to learn to overclock, which would make that CPU perform around a Intel E6700 @ 2.67Ghz. Both those cards will run ShadowRun well. The 7950gt is a more powerful card, but the 8600gts has Dx10. A single 8600gts will run games on highest to max right now @ 12x10.

If this was my decision, Im tight on money, but want to experience the new tech. Get the Intel E2140, 2x1gb Super Talent/Crucial Ballistix and the 8600gts with Vista Home Basic 32bit.

Tahts a kick ass system man. You got the top eVGA card too, I like that. I think though, you should go with this RAM. I use the Mushkin and it works nicely with the board. I was actually recommended Mushkin with this board. I was a OCZ fan before, but apparently OCZ has some problems with this board.

Theyres also this Corsair, but its a MIR and I dont know if you like those. This is also another RAM that is great for the board.

At your resolution, you will max out FEAR with no Soft Shadows, which arent important anyways for FEAR.

Crysis, I couldnt tell you, but last year a 7800gtx in a demo @ 12x10 ran it on high, not max though. Probably no AA or AF. Now recetly it just ran on a QX6700, 2x1gb and 8800gtx @ 19x12 around 40fps. Those demos were in Dx9. I couldnt tell you how Dx10 will perform as patched games seem to do horribly, but Call of Juarez @ 19x12 on a QX6700, 4x1, 8800gtx ran 30-40fps maxed out on a Union members PC. that was in Dx10.

If you ever want to overclock and get crazy with your PC. That CPU is a major clocker, that board is a great clocker too, the Mushkin is nice RAM or the Corsair. the 8600gts is an insane overclocker.

I was also wondering if the stock fans ans stuff r fine or should i get diff. and could u explain, i mean i no what overclocking is but i have no idea how to do it or whether its something i want ro should do. Coulld u also explain what 19x12 around 40fps means, im still new to the terms of PC even though ive learned quitea bit about them alrdy.

19x12 is a resolution for screens (1900x1200) and 40fps is 40 frames per second. You will hear 12x10, 16x12, 16x10, and many more. Theyre just resolutions.

STock fans are fine for that CPU, although Intel ones are known to be a bit loud. If you want to do some proper overclocking, take that stock Intel cooler off and put a Arctic Freezer 7 Pro on if you want an inexpensive but very effective CPU cooler.

The best cooler is the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme ($65cdn) and you still need fan for it. You could take that CPU to over 3.0Ghz no problems on either CPU cooler. Just one will run hotter then another. Core 2 Duos are sweet overclockers all avg over 3.0ghz

The DVI adapter will attach to the GPU, then take the long monitor cable you have. It is changing the DVI end of the GPU to an Analog end, so it can take older monitors too.
