Okay thanks, I just want to have a good enough system so I could overclock in case I ever really needed it, like if I was downloading a huge game like spore, or with other long tasks.

I would change the processor to an Intel E8400 and the 'board to a DFI DK X38-T2RB. Also, that bible is obviously biased (and old), or it wouldn't tell you to get an HD 3870. Get a HD 4850 or 4870.

my magizine did have a thing about the 8800GTS, I guess I listen to it and go with that, it's not that expensive, and it has a little bit more advantage over the 8800GT

Regarding my previous post, I'd actually get this 9800GT. 125$ after MIR, cheaper than your listed card and it performs better.

Uh, what?

If you spend over $100 less by buying Intel parts which perform better, you can easily afford either of the video cards I recommended.

I would rather have a "True Quad Core Processor" from amd, which has no FSB, it must be good because intel is trying to copy them with the nahelem or whatever it's called, In my opinion the only reason the intel had the advantage is because of their 45nm tech advantage, which the seem to value for $1000, but for some reason when amd has the true quad core intel goes after that tech immediately, so they must some how be admitting the loss, yet pretty much all of their quad cores are more expensive then the best amd, I wonder how much the nahelem will sell for when it comes out, probably billions, and they can go sell it to dell to get the millions of dollars they need to research better technology. Every where I read reviews and articles on cpu's, they say that right now clock speeds aren't important as the used to be, and thats because AMD's obsoleition of FSB. Sure when intel catches up into that crowd, speed is going to be a big issue, but I'd rather stick with amd, because it's motherboards aren't going to be costing sky high because the demand for mother boards with no fsb, as if intels processors aren't expensive enough as it is.

True Quad Core is a marketing term, it actually does not seem to be adding any performance.

AMD processors do have a FSB, what they have and Intel (currently) does not have is an ondie memory controller. That allows for lower system latency but AMD does not have any CPUs that beat Intel CPUs despite having that excellent technology.

Intel Processors have been squashing AMD processors clock for clock since the first Core 2 Duo came out, which is 65nm. Intel not only beats AMD clock for clock, they also beat AMD at highest clocks.

AMD is trying to compete by drastically lowering prices, if you are concerned about $$ only, not performance per $$ or anything like that, then AMD is a good solution.

Nahelem will initially be expensive, but it wont be long until you start seeing the more entry level $180 types.

Clock Speed does matter.

Intel motherboards are not that expensive. You can get a nice board that supports Crossfire for $130. Or you can get a good entry level board for $50.

Finally, Intel = Faster. No Ifs Ands or Buts

To push you off head off its pedestal, for someone with 2 weeks xp you sure know alot! Also AMD quads make no sense, when there are better intel quads availible for cheap. You could make an argument that for cheap processors amd is better but for a quality proscessor buy intel. Also atm AMD/ATI has great grafix cards and you would be smart to buy a crossfire board like the

GIGABYTE GA-X48-DQ6 LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128331

$285~~~

and intel costs more because it performs better. AMD= Toyota Prius Intel=BMW way expensive intel = Ferrari
