Sounds like you might have bigger issues, I hope not, but maybe. You could try clearing the CMOS.

What kind of keyboard an mouse you using, if some fancy wireless or something you might try it with a more basics PS/2 keyboard.

i am using a logitech G5 and G15, i tried with a basic microsoft keyboard, and it was the same, a few seconds of power, enough to get into bios, then back to nothing.

Well, if clearing the CMOS don't help, I don't know what else to suggest. I will keep thinking, but you might want to contact Gigabyte, and you might have to return it.

Check page 26 of your manual.

Basically you need to turn off the computer, unplug it from the wall. Then use a jumper or a screw driver to short the CLR_CMOS jumper. Remove the jumper if used and then turn the PC back on.

Perhaps the HDD is connected to a RAID chip on the motherboard, and you need to load the RAID drivers?

I know that with my mobo, if I connect a HDD to any slot that has RAID enabled, it won;t detect in the Vista install, and I need to install the drivers (through the driver option when you are choosing the drive to use) in order for the drive to detect.

Well first I'd check with the mobo manual to actually see if RAID is enabled (if not, then nothing will really happen :P), then all you have to do, is at the point where Windows asks what Drive you want to install to, take out the Vista install disk, and put in the mobo drivers disk.

Then browse to the drive and select the correct folder, like if you were directing Windows to a folder for a normal manual driver install. It'll come up with a list of drivers found (and here's the tricky part) you have to select the correct RAID driver, and then hopefully your drives will appear.

Now this probably isn't the best explaination, but hopefully it puts you on the right track.

Also, this may not be the source of your problem, but trying never hurt anyone :).

Double check and see if everything is plugged into the motherboard correctly.
