I have a laptop with SLI 8700s and they seemed to work fine, up until I installed RivaTuner and overclocked them, which was some time ago. Now when I'm playin a game and try to enable DX10, it isn't available, plus the game performance seems to be less than it was previoulsy. I have heard something about these cards being recognized as 7900s instead, does anyone know how I can deal with this problem? I have tried undoing all the overclocking but that didn't work.

Thanks for any help!

Are you running XP? If so, that's your problem, as DX10 is only available on Vista.

Also, you might aswell not run in DX10, because you don't have the horsepower for it.

overclocking a laptop is not a good idea, more speed = more heat. did you run the game in dx9?

I have Vista and I dont have a problem NOT overclocking, aslong as I can run games in DX10 if I want. Before I overclocked my GPUs I could run games in DX10 and I got around 40fps playing Company of Heroes on med-high settings if I remember correctly. I have a Core2Duo @ 2.00 Ghz and 2GB RAM along with SLI 8700M GPUs, but I want to run games in DX10, and I know some of you are telling me not to do that, but I still want to be able to.

Well, why would you want to run it in DX10?

There's no noticable difference between DX9 and DX10 in most current games yet, and DX9 is even faster to boot.

But I have seen a drop in performance too, leading me to believe that my GPUs are not running correctly. It doesn't matter whether or not I should use DX9 over DX10. If DX10 isn't an option on the video settings in a game, then that should tell you that something is wrong, and that is why I am here, to figure out what is wrong.

All I can think of is a faulty GPU, or a driver problem.

The problem is now fixed! I'm not sure how it got fixed, but after I wus messin around in RivaTuner and restarted my pc, I can now run CoH in DX10! But you guys were right about DX9 being ALOT faster than DX10. I must have been mistakin about getting 40fps in DX10 bc I just ran it w/o overclocking and got about 10-15fps while getting about 30-35fps in DX9. But then I overclocked the GPUs again and now get about 20-30fps in DX10 med-high settings and 60fps in DX9. Just thought I would share that information.
