I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue, but it does have to do WITH my computer hardware.

I'm having a problem with the sleep setting on my computer - when I set it to sleep mode, it sounds like everything inside the case (i.e. case fans) remains on, so the noise level is exactly the same when I set it to sleep, as it is when the computer is fully on. I've tried waiting a few minutes --- nothing happens.

It IS technically in sleep mode though, as I still have to shake the mouse to wake it up. *This problem started when I updated my BIOS* due to an unrelated issue. Before that, when I initiated sleep mode, everything in the case would power down, and become totally silent.

Is there some way I can change the sleep settings, to make everything power down properly during sleep mode?

well, as you said, it happened when you updated your BIOS, so it's a BIOS problem. Report it.

btw, why did you updated your BIOS for anyways? did you change CPU? did you had a previous problem? if not, there's no reason to update BIOS as it could result in problems, such as the one you have.

We are trying to find a solution here not the reasons why he had to do a BIOS upgrade. You can always downgrade to your previous BIOS version if you like. But for your question that is probably something that cannot be changed. This has to do with the manufacturer. In general, when you set your computer in sleep mode, most of the devices of your computer are shut off, in order to save energy. But the crucial and vital devices that keep your computer data, like your Power Supply (PSU) and your memory are still working. So if you have the case fans directly connected to your PSU then you cannot shut them off in sleep mode. The only way is to connect directly on the mainboard so they are getting the voltage from there and when your computer goes on sleep mode, they will automatically shut off - (you can find adapters in the market)
