Have to say that after 2 days using this OS I hate it. I am having so many compatibility issues that it makes running games almost impossible. When I have made sure to download all my current drivers for all my hardware. Yet I still seem to be having issues. I installed Tomb Raider Anniversary, Mass Effect, and Janes USAF earlier tonight and none of these will even load. I keep getting the message, Configuration Utility has stopped with Mass Effect. I had to take a back door to even get Tomb Raider to install. When I boot my zboard driver has a 50/50 chance of loading correctly.

If anyone has any idea as to what the hell is going on with this please let me know. I have read up on the problems and it seems that everything has to be run an administrator. I have set everything up to and still no change. So far my new rig is really turning into a $2,500 decoration....

you can try this, it has worked on almost all of my compatability issues with vista ultimate, Right click on your icon, then click on properties, click the compatability tab along the top and then put check marks in the "run as administrator" box and in the "Run this program in the compatability mode" for windows xp sp2,, they are the top and bottom boxes, I have also used this with programs and they run great..

mass effect should'nt have a problem though as its a pretty new game, what error does it give? "mass effect has stopped responding"? the compatibility mode the above poster suggested has worked for me also with older games. For mass effect have you tried exploring the dvd and launching it from the masseffect.exe?

I have tried the run in compatibility and as admin options already. Unfortunatley still no luck... I just got off the phone with microsoft support... They said they can help me! For $59.99... Aparently they show no support for system builders. The guy I was on the phone with in some 3rd world country (which by the way isnt it strange that we have to call people in un-technilogicaly advanced countries to figure out how to fix our problems?) said that I had to go to support.microsoft.com Which isnt even microsofts support site!!!

I really dont know what else to do. Half my games dont work and the other half are running really slugish, and on my system that should not be happening.

Try rolling back some videocard drivers, I ran into some issues with Mass Effect before and once I rolled back my drivers it ran without a hitch. Just because these drivers are the latest doesn't mean they fix everything and somethings become broken.

I just got off the phone with ea. The guy told me exactly what to do. He said your running a quad core arent you? I told him I had an 8 core and he yelled JESUS CHRIST! Didnt think that the new i7 really shocked people that much. Regardless he took me through my program files and had me move the masseffect.exe file to the binaries folder. Aparently it has a habit of moving to wrong folder sometimes? But I started it up and it runs like a charm now! Now if I could just get the other games and my zboard driver to boot correctly. Thanks for all the help!
