So, I have a wireless Road Runner internet and I got some problems with it. The internet is good and fast but sometimes it disappears. I have a modem and a wirelles rounter. I'm running Vista on my PC and internet sometimes dissapears with no reason. It says that it is connected to my network (Deivis) but it writes "Local Only" where it should be "Local and Internet." The signal is good. Then after a while it appears again and works just fine. I was thinking maybe all the cords are not connected correctly 'cause I have one cord free but then I though if this will be true, there will be no internet. It's hard to explain, but basically sometimes a well-working internet just goes to "locals" and don't work...

Hmm thats very interesting... Your connections look fine and your signal is obviously fine. Perhaps it's simply the internet totally going down? Have you looked at Road Runners website after this happens to see if a scheduled maintenance just happened? (Dunno if Road Runner does that, my local ISP does though)

give road runner a call, see if they are experiencing problems, or adding new lines in the area...which would also cause problems. if nothing much is going on, i'd suspect interference. do you use a cordless phone using the same frequence as the router? microwaves will also mess em up. try putting the router up higher away from things that would block the antenna. if you live close to your neighbors, their phone may mess up your router.

I have a very similar problem to yours. My wireless adapter on my Vista computer won't detect my wireless access point half of the time, which is no more than four feet away (I measured) but it can detect my neighbor's wireless network. And that problem where it says local only happened when I had it plugged in.

Well, in the past when I had my old PC and Windows XP on it I never had problems with "Local Only". And I haven't changed a place for anything except my new PC has Vista so maybe it's Vistas problem somewhere. But again, it works most of the time...
