I just recently got my E4400 (2.0GHz Intel Core2Duo) processor RMAd from Intel. I popped it into my ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA mobo and everything's runny peachy. I loaded up speedfan and saw that temps for both Core0 and Core1 were hovering around 89F. There's also Temp1 and Temp2 which are 81F and 91F, respectively. Ambient room temp is about 75F. (Temp reading are from idle) I've never had to deal with this before, as usually my processors would run around 110F (idle) to 145F (under full load). Can having a processor run too cool be a problem?

no.

cooling causes it to contract, which is actually a good thing since the internal wires wont touch eachother and short out. thats why overheating is a problem

Too cool is not possible for a normal setup. Submersing your cpu with liquid nitrogen would eventually get you a problem with negative temperatures. No I am not joking about the liquid nitrogen,I have seen people do tests like this on tech tv.:D

Okay. Thanks guys. I'm just really blown away by how cool this Core2Duo chip is running. Me thinks I'm gonna have to OC a bit. :)

You won't run into something being too cool into you're well below 0. It's called a Cold Bug where the system just won't boot unless more heat is created.

Intel Core 2 Duo processors have an upper limit of 100 degrees centigrade (C). Beyond that, they burn out.
