Project Origin renamed!!!

Warner Bros. and Monolith are announcing today that they have acuired the F.E.A.R. name, meaning that the creator of F.E.A.R. once again has access to the name. To that effect, Project Origin is being renamed to F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.

Yaaaayyyy!! Despite that this won't change a thing about the game, I feel all happy and stuff about this, 'cause Monolith got back what's rightfully theirs. :)

Can't wait for this game, the first FEAR blew me away and this one looks like its improved something I thought would be impossible since FEAR is perfect in my eye's.

Oh and they probably changed it so the little ones don't get confused.

Seriously, though IP (intellectual property, not the other IP) is important - the creators of FEAR should be allowed to have the name

i wonder if the delay has something to do with that - they want enough buzz to build and make everyone fully aware that this is the sequel to f.e.a.r.? cuz even now, some people have no idea that project origin is the proper sequel to the game.

I hate games with a numbers on them (FEAR 2/Halo3 etc...), Project Origin alone sounded a lot cooler =/.Mochyc

this actually might draw people AWAY from the game seeing as it's got a longer name, and thus more likely to lose the attention of ppl (u know, the extremely short attention spans these days)

I disagree, I think if anything this will increase sales. People who don't follow the industry/read gaming news will be able to identify the FEAR name, where as Project Origin is something they've never heard of..

most of the best games of all time, according to me, are sequels: bg2, fallout 2, fps: football pro, tf2, tie fighter, diablo 2, doom 2, half-life 2, no one lives forever 2, etc. many of them are better than the original. so that bodes very well for f.e.a.r. 2: project origin.

That wouldn't make any sense. "Project Origin" is an actual project that was underway at Armacham (it was the whole experimentation with Alma and her sons and the clones). "Origin of FEAR" would imply the origins of the First Encounter Assault Recon unit, which is stupid.

Project Origin sounded alot cooler.. I am sick of these constant sequel titles.. Final Fantasy 10! HALO 5! etc etc.. FEAR 2 is just too unoriginal for me.. But then again its just a title, so who cares.sSubZerOo

Well, it still has the "Project Origin" tag on there. Personally, I like Project Origin better than FEAR 2 by itself, too, but I like FEAR 2: Project Origin more than either.

Definitely cool, even though I had already become accustomed to knowing it simply as Project Origin and kind of liked it as is. It's good for recognition, and the fact the game is FEAR 2.

Now....if only Warner and Monolith could secure No One Lives Forever as well.
