I need to decide on some components as I want to start building this in the beginning of May. Here's what I have, please let me know of any incompatibility, or any better components, however, I am on a budget and can spend NO more than what this is already going to cost me, here it is, Components marked with an asterix are those I already own and work perfectly:

RAM: Kingston 2GB DDR3 1066MHz

Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 250 Socket AM3 3.0GHz

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

Motherboard: MSI GF615M-P33 GeForce 6150SE Socket AM3

Video Card: MSI HD 4650 1GB GDDR2(*)

Power Supply: Casecom Silver 500W PSU(*)

Monitor:Acer X203 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor 1600x900(*)

Optical Drives: 2x Sony Optiaric DVD drives(*)

Hard Drives: 2x 160GB Hard drives (320GB)(*)

Chasis: Standard mATX case(*)

Total: £223.52

I plan on gaming on high at a resolution of 1600x900, Currently, my most demanding game is Borderlands and Mirror's Edge, both run like faeces on my Pentium 4 rig. (hopefully that will change with my upgrade) however, for more demanding games I can settle for medium until I upgrade my video card.

I've created a few of these topics in the past, but, if I get enough feedback, this will be my last of this kind of post.

Thanks.

Looks like a nice mid-range sort of system which should perform pretty well, you may want to upgrade GPU further down the line, but for now, it should be good enough as long as you arnt expecting maximum settings in every game.

You're not going to run those on high with an HD4650, sorry, just not going to happen.

maybe a tri core or athlon x4 but a phenom x4 is not needed for gaming. the athlon x2 is fine for new games.

I get a sense of bitterness from your post.

To let you know I've seen Borderlands run on high (With shadows or something off/ low, I can't remember) at 30+ fps.

Also:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkbvvoWzA-Y&feature=relatedThat looks pretty good to me.

Also to the guy who recommended me a Phenom, I said I was on a budget, it would be nice though.
