This game is 50% off at D2D. I was wondering if I should pick it up or not.

Yes, you should. It's hard to find a more extreme action game on PC.

I have played Prototype at my friend's house, and I think that it is ok.

If inFamous was for the PC, I would definitely recommend it over Prototype.

Yes you can, but mouse and keyboard is still better. It's a great game, one of the best games of 2009.

It's a very fun game. I had to pick it up eventually for the 360 because I had performance issues on the PC, but despite "downgrading" it was a blast to play. It's also a damn good stress reliever. :)

I know the game doesn't seem to be all that appealing at first glance but seriously, it's very fun. It's not perfect by any means, it's not realistic and there are some design flaws but they can be so easily overlooked!

ITs a good game. GUess you should pick it up. I liked it a lot. Specially the free roam feature and the way the bodies cut into pieces, the blood and the gore is awesome. LOL..

Prototype is excellent. The story is maybe not the best but it's packed with a lot of action! Not to mention how fun it is to tear someone in the half and then consume his body xD I only with for the map to be a bit bigger, but other than that it's a great game and for that price it's a good deal.

I bought inFamous the other day and it is soooo boring compared to Prototype, also inFamous is probably one of the most annoying games i've played in recently. The way too grabby controls mixed with the slow climbing whilst being shot at by sniper elite enemies make traveling from point A to B way too annoying.

Prototype does not suffer from these flaws.

You want stupidly over the top and violent open world action... and don't care for a good narrative? Buy it. Has its port issues though - resolution options for instance, and a gamepad is highly recommended.

Don't agree with this, one of the great things about the game is that the difficulty curve is spot on.

Don't agree with this either, the mouse and keyboard work great, I tried bot and while the controller is also good, mouse and keyboard edged it for me. It is one of the very very few games that benefit from having v-sync turned on by the way, makes the mouse look more consistant.

I don't think it has proper support for widescreen.

I remember somebody from widescreengaming forums or some other place posting about Prototype and the image was stretched so you either see it right or they made some adjustments that made if fullscreen but overall worse.

Enjoyed this game.It didn't require that much thinking, it was more of a "let loose your aggression and stress" type of game. ie:- fun
As for widescreen I run a 1920x1080 monitor and didn't have any black borders. Could be settings incorrect somewhere. I know some games not only let you change resolution but also screen type from 4:3, 16:9, and 16:10. 1920x1200 is 16:10, 1920x1080 is 16:9

I liked the game, but in small doses. Too bad I'm pretty bad at keeping my save files as I had to restart the game twice when I got the itch to play it. As for widesreen, it should be ok. I was able to run it at a 16X9 settings with no black box or stretching... well, it didn't look stretched, you decide:

Personally, I thought it was just a mess game all over. Flimsy control, not-so good sandbox design, and just a very tiring and unpolished experience.

Sandbox games tend to be repetitive by nature. Even RFG, which had some variety, had moments of repetition. Prototype is no different.

It's your problem if you don't know how to properly use the toys you're given. RFG had less toys than Prototype.

I'm always inventing crazy scenarios, instead of grinding my way from point A to point B. Where's the fun in sticking to one way of playing?

I'm sure that GTA4 is hailed an awesome sandbox because you have almost nothing to do except for shooting people with (a couple of guns) and crashing cars. Uninventive people love the illusion of freedom...

The funny thing about this Baranga is that you say it's my problem that I don't properly use the toys I'm given, yet when you explained GTA it's as if you barely played with any of the game's tools yourself. You can steal cars for cash, you can do street races, friend activities, deliveries, etc. I can be very inventive with GTA 4 to the point where my experience is never dull. I like how you automatically assume that I was grinding my way through everything. With RFG I can be very inventive even with less toys. But with Prototype, since that I found the game to be a barely enjoyable mess even when I was trying to be inventive, the experience was just dull and repetitive at places. The sub-objectives that you do are copied throughout your progress of the main game. Pardon me if I don't like my games to have flimsy control and messy design.

Yes, that's what i said ALMOST nothing. Compare it to the other two games - it's a joke in terms of side activities and options. Or have you seriously spent more than 15 minutes watching TV, and have you went bowling more than one time? GTA4 put a whole lot of useless, half-assed crap there. Hey, let's create a fugly and very restricted in-game Internet instead of making a proper ARG in real life!

As I understand, the "mess" you talk about is the chaos of the setting. Well, since the game is set during a zombie apocalypse, I don't see how this is a valid criticism. Multitasking and improvisation are the whole point of Prototype. If you can't master them, it's no wonder you'll never be able to do inventive things.

I wonder if you'd like Saints Row 2 then, since you can't even go buy a pair of pants without blowing up an entire city block.

And I hate GTA's controls. Niko feels like a tank. He's a war veteran, a guerrilla war vet. Rockstar thinks realism means clumsiness. Not to mention that the cars can steer while in mid-air.

Mess as in unpolished. I don't know about you, but when I'm able to stealth consume in front of crapload of soldiers and they do absolutely NOTHING, there's a problem. This has nothing to do with the city's chaos, it has to do with incredibly flimsy controls, terrible environmental design, and terrible progression in the story that made it a mess. The chaotic setting grew tiring quickly, and ultimately I felt that I was only playing the game for the power upgrades, which weren't even that great to use after the second time. I would like to play Saints Row 2, despite it's poor driving and shooting, but the game is in a very buggy state so I'm not even bothering with it. Seriously through, you're comparing an over the top, post-apocalyptic type of sandbox game compared to a modern crime-themed sandbox game. They're directed towards two entirely different objectives in design. I didn't have a problem with GTA's controls, and I probably watched the TV for 5 minutes altogether. I played, with an imagination. I added in imaginary restrictions while playing to make the experience a lot more intense and realistic. I enjoyed bowling, pool, and even darts despite how easy they were. All of GTA 4's side activities were a fun to do, and I can't say the same about San Andreas or Vice City. I'd rather have less content, but vastly improved core series mechanics than have more content and have dated mechanics. San Andreas had a lot of stuff in the game that wasn't fun to do at all. I really love how you nitpick on how you can steer mid-air. Are you playing most of the game driving in mid-air? No? Okay then... My opinion stands on Prototype being a poorly designed game. I was inventive, I did improvise, just like every other sandbox game I've played. I'll tell you, being creative worked with GTA 4, and it worked with RFG. But with Prototype, it was just tiring.
