GTA 4 is one of the best games I've played during the last year. I'd definitely choose that one.
I would go to several system requirements labs before purchasing GTA IV - buyer beware. biggest_loser
+1. I rarely play this game, mainly because it doesn't run too great on my system. My rig is a few years old but it's still good enough to run games like Crysis on medium with no lag.
GTA IV arguably has the highest system requirements of any game on the market. He posted his spec's, his PC can run any game currently on the market

GTA4 is the better game, by many miles. however, if you just want a rush action fix, Prototype is ok.
btw, OP's rig is decent, but not sufficient to play any current game at higher-->highest possible graphic configuaration.
for GTA4 specificially, I don't see 9800GT stand much a chance to run it smoothly at 1920x1080 and up with over medium of all other graphic options.
Prototype is much better. It's a lot more varied and the action is miles better. The story is mediocre, but well delivered.
And it's not a half-assed "I don't want to be a bad guy but hey, I'll kill everybody for no reason at all while making witty comments and then I'll go back complaining about my crappy life" story.
Nope, it's "heck I'm emo, why not kill anyone because I can?I'm a mutant I deserve to kill people, I hate my life T_T why is this happening" GTA 4, is better, it has a great story, it's probably the only game in which, just random driving is fun, the city is very detailed, it has a great soundtrack as alwaysPrototype is much better. Preference. Although from what I've heard GTAIV is unoptimized and NEEDS a quad to rub, and I'm not sure if the bugs which the pc version shipped in were fixed.

Fail. Choice =/= story.

I didn't say anything about story=choice, because you have no choice in Prototype, you just kill. Fail. Mediocre game=mediocre, it has no excuse for anything, it's just there.I didn't say anything about story=choice, because you have no choice in Prototype, you just kill. Fail. You played it for just 30 minutes. You haven't even unlocked any of the important powers. You hated it months before launch.
The game can be played almost entirely stealth, killing only mutants and a couple of required human targets.

1 hour and I'll never play it again since that was my cousin's game so I don't have it installed anymore and it sucks too much, I finished Web of Shadows, because I was a fan of Spider Man, but I can't torture myself again with such a game, it has some nice powers and abilities, but after 20 minutes it becomes boring and awkward, the only reason to continue playing it (in my case) would be some sort of interesting story, which Prototype doesn't have. If a game is good even if I don't like it at first I still play it and then I discover it's great (Witcher) but Prototype was kinda meh from the first minute I got into the game. Maybe I would have liked it but not after I already played Web of Shadows.Look, I'm going to have to go with Empire: Total War.
I installed it two nights ago, and it's just mind blowing. The land battles are amazing. The sea battles are amazing. The campaign map has been worked on is now just drop dead gorgeous. The whole game is gorgeous.
So Empire gets my vote... chiiiiiiiiiiiiilllllldren. This is Three Dawg. Aaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwooooooooo.

i recommend u play GTA 4 first... then if you're not satisfy with it u can try prototype...

Get Prototype. GTAIV is seriously one of my most regretted purchases. Inconsistent characters, annoying friend system, graphics saturated in gray and brown, and repititive, boring missions.

Yes, nice description of Prototype you got there ;) and even tho it does have a story (or some thing that they want to call story) it's garbage, if it has no story whatsoever (a good story if you don't understand what I want to say) in one hour it certainly won't get one in 1 hour and 2 minutes, or after 20 hours.[QUOTE="Filthcakes"]

The game is crap and I don't have to play it 10 hours to understand that, I already went through this game (Web of Shadows), 1 hour was way more than enough to show all about Prototype that is different from WoS. I really don't care about the game, at all, but it's disturbing to see people recommending it over GTA IV,not because of GTA's performance problem but because Prototype is the better game o_0, do you even believe yourself? I don't care what story they made you believe it has but this is enough proof for me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1wCWYjXOFE[QUOTE="dakan45"][QUOTE="chicack"] i've e4700 @2,60ghz...i got amd 64x 2 5200+ 2.6ghz and it plays badly hmm... i can run it... but not in maximum... but i think it's good enough... hehechicack
Theres the difference Intel>AMD :P
Game runs fine on my System, so TC should be fine with GTA 4 too.

There were two things I liked about the game.
1. The dynamic environment. I'm talking about civilians walking casually around the streets, traffic moving on the roads like in your regular life. But when the zombies come, the civilians are all running around in panic, the cars are speeding and sometimes crashing because the streets are littered with empty cars and all kinds of junk. And there are all kinds of random details that make the scene look even more realistic. To see all of that in action is pretty impressive.
2. The military. The way the marines interact with the environment is pretty good. The backstories of the marines and blackwatch are very well done and pretty realistic and believable.
The rest was just average in my opinion. Anyway, what I'm meaning to say with this is that the video you posted shows one of the few good things about this game. If you are going to dis the game, dis it for other things. Like the very confusing and extremely cliche story with that insanely confusing "web of intrigue". Or the civilians and zombies that spawn right behind your back as you are turning around (looking left and right).
Hell, I still can't believe how cliche the story was. I figured it all out the moment I heard the word virus. And I guess everybody figured out what was going to happen when Alex got contacted by an unknown (unknown, yeah right!) figure who wanted to help (help, yeah right!). But I had so much trouble following the actual events because the way the story is told is so vague and random. I guess maybe that's why the story was so basic, so you could still follow the story, but if it's so basic, why do you need things like that "web of intrigue"?
Long story short. Get Prototype if you just want mindless action because that is the only thing the game does well. Get GTA4 if you want more then just mindless action.
