I don't think I've had much problems in the video settings of Prototype myself. I could set the resolution up to 1650x1050 but didn't due to low frame rate
there is a program 3D-analize which will let you use windowed mode on any game
http://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/tools/3d_analyze/download/
its very simple to use, Just click the select button and then find the exe of your game then click the open button
check the force windowed option then click the run button

Why do so many people want to play games in Windowed Mode.... can someone please explain?FelipeInsidethe reason i do is because I run two screens and need to keep in contact with people (over msn, facebook etc). running games in windowed mode makes it much easier to move from the game, to an msn conversation, to the internet and vice versa.

Ok...I get that...but then again, why so much multi-tasking? When I'm on MSN...I chat. When I'm online, I navigate and read webpages. When I play a game...I want to be immersed into that game fully....so I just play that game. I guess there are people like you out there....but when you go to the cinema, please don't tell me you sit there and talk/SMS other people....

I run a dual monitor setup myself, and i do the same thing.
Its great being able to play a game in one window and have something else on another, especially with a game guide on the other screen. I dont bother having to alt tab, read, go back into the game and do it. I can just do a quick glance to the right and follow the steps, scroll down if i ned to, and get into the game in less than a second.
You'll probably understand why windowed mode rocks if you ever get around to having a dual monitor setup.
In some cases i've ran two games at once, WoW and Civ 4. Playing a little it of Civ 4 while waiting for someone else to get to a dungeon, or waiting for guild members to gather up.
Windowed mode does not make your games run better generally. Windowed mode in most modern games produces anywhere between a 1% to 5% performance drop. Generally, not very noticeable. There are some exceptions where you can take as much as a %20 hit though. That 3D anayze tool makes any game only take about a 1% hit no matter what. I dunno how it does it but it works fantastic.

Fair enough...I understand how it works for you. Me, don't think I'll ever do it. The game guide thing is cool...but when I'm playing a game, I rather just play that game and get totally immersed into it.... without distractions...[QUOTE="fdsfgs"]Why do so many people want to play games in Windowed Mode.... can someone please explain? for me windowed mode is nice because i can run it at a 16:9 resolution and so play the game in widescreen on my 4:3 monitor..... i am a widescreen whore...how do i enable the game in windowed mode?
