I have just bought a black ps2 slimline. I got home and plugged the cables in, it is black and white. I have made sure they are in the correct slots, and tried it on another television, same problem. the picture is perfectly fine, all except it being black and white. it is the same when i put a game in or a dvd, and i have tried turning it off and on, still no luck. help appreciated!
Wiggle the cable in the back of the PS2 a little, this has happened to my ps3 once, wiggled the cable in the back a little and it worked. Also do you have the normal 3 wire colors cable or the 480P ones? The TV must have the same colored slots as the cables.
I just bought my PS2 Slim (PAL-Euro), and my tv is also PAL (Toshiba XV55 1080, PAL) as I nlive i n Switzerland. I turned on my console and screen comes out b&w and so does when I put GOWar2... b&w. What to do?
I have a PAL PS2, and when I moved back to America and connected it to an NTSC tv I did experience black and white picture. Perhaps that's what you are experiencing, some sort of PAL to NTSC problem king-kill? As for your problem Vexivilian, if you are sure all of your equipment is PAL, and that your TV does not have some kind of NTSC mode, then I don't know what your problem is.
I've had this problem before. It seems your TV only supports PAL or NTSC (one of them). When you try to play a ps2 game which is for a different region (for ex, you have a PAL TV, trying to play a NTSC game) it will show black and white. When I had this problem, I bought a modified SCART connector, which could show all colors, but at low quality. I suggest you buy a new TV, since all newer models support all formats.
I have a new "proview" 32inc lcd television and some games are in black and white. I can't play PS2 anymore! Its so anoying, my old non LCD "pilot" tv showed full color with all games. Is "proview" a realy lame tv company? Seriously, wtf? An older tv was working finer then the new one is.
