PS3 Audio/Video Connections

Hey everyone, so I'm going to be getting a PS3 soon and had a question concerning the audio / video connections. My current setup involves a 32in LCD, a receiver, and surround sound speakers. So my problem is that I want to use an HDMI cable for the video and the PS3 standard cable to connect the audio into my receiver (my receiver doesn't have digital optical audio, just the red and white connections). Will I be able to just plug in the HDMI cable from the PS3 to the TV and the PS3 standard cable from the PS3 to the receiver at the same time? Or how would I be able to get this to work?

It'll work, but why do you have surround sound speakers when all you have is a receiver that supports stereo?KHAndAnime

Where does it say his receiver doesnt support surround sound?? i cant find it. ur av cables will work fine, mine do. when u connect the hdmi tho itll automatically output the sound to hdmi, so make sure to switch it to scart/multi in the audio settings
