I recently took my PS3 to a friends house, and left the HDMI plugged in to the TV at my house. When I plugged it back in, there were occasional lines on the screen, and the occasional pop or click in the audio. After a few days large green rectangles would appear on the screen with lots of audio static, the video cut out a couple times as well. I switched to component, and all the problems are gone. I would like to have 1080p and only have to use one cable, so I was wondering. Is this a problem with my cable or my port? Many thanks for any help.

You can isolate the problem by trying a different HDMI cable. If that doesn't fix it then try your PS3 on a differnt HDTV with HDMI.
