Alright so today I bought an HDMI cable that supports 1080p for my PS3. I hooked it up and now my PS3 is in 1080p. I put in Tropic Thunder for Blu Ray and it doesnt load and same goes with the Blu Ray disk that comes with the PS3. Little Big Planet however loads fine.

Anyone have any ideas on why my PS3 isnt loading the Blu Ray disks?

Is your tv hdcp compliant? I assume it is, but if its not, due to the security settings of blu-ray's, they wont load. Dont know much about blu ray security other than I've heard BD+ wont allow playback at 1080p either through component or through hdmi with a non hdcp tv.

I would guess, do you have a component cable to try because it will work in 720p without hdcp.

If the disc is dirty, clean it

How do I check if its an HDCP TV? Also, the disk was working fine before I hooked up the HDMI cable so its not the disks. If I don't have an HDCP TV what do you suggest I do?

Well I think your manual should say if it is HDCP, but if it isn't you will have to use a component cable and it will only do 1080i or 720p.

Hook it back up to component and if the blu ray works then your tv isnt hdcp. If it doesnt work, then you may have a problem with your ps3 that just happened to arise after you hooked up hdmi. You didnt happen to handle it carelessly did you?
