It won't read any games, blu ray movies, or regular cds. Is there anything I can do to fix it or is it done for?

It will still play all of the demos and downloaded games that are on it though.

Your lens might be damaged. A friend of mine had that problem. Send it back to Sony if you have a warranty and if that is feasable. If not, I'm sure local technicians can replace the lens for a fee. My friend had to pay P5500 (Roughly $114) to have his lens changed.

Nothing. I put in a disk and it doesn't show up on the XMB.

I have the same problem. However, when I restart the console sometimes it does read the disc. The best thing to do in this case is to call Sony for any advice.

You can actually buy a lens and replace it yourself. The part number is a KES-400A. I bought mine from http://www.consumerdepot.com Here is a video that shows you how to replace it http://www.metacafe.com/watch/2348144/sony_ps3_wont_read_fix_will_not_read_disc_repair_no_read_discs/

i bought mine used off of some website and it had the same problem. i was figuring i would have to send it back but i decided to download the newest update to see if that would do anything... and it did. after i downloaded the newest update (it was at around original firmware when i got the system) it started reading disks perfectly.

if you can download the newest update off of the network... try getting that to see if it fixes your problem and starts reading disks.

the lens is broken,it should be replaced.our 80Gb ps3 is only 1 yr old and we just had the same problem, this month. if it's still within warranty have it replaced or fixed by Sony,if not, find a technician who will replace the lens for a fee. it seems that Sony's ps3 blu-ray lens is not that durable, tsk tsk!
