Hey,

I just ordered a new PC, with the following specs:

2GB Corsair RAM
eVga 7950GT 512 KO version
Intel Q6600 (Quad core)
500GB HD Western Digital Caviar
LG 17' Widescreen (dunno any specifics)

I also bought a rather cheap casing, because I don't really care what it looks like, I'm viewing my monitor not the Casing.. (hopefully)

The casing came with a PSU of 350W, at first I thought that really wasn't enough, but I asked the person in the store where I ordered it (not the GFX card), and told him I had the 7950GT, I asked if the 350W could take it, he said it would work..

Thing is I don't want a PC that's going to crash within the hour when I first booted it.. Is 350W really enough? Thanks in advance,

Roy

With that setup, that's pushing the PSU a bit too much (and not enough if you planning to OC the GPU and CPU), I would go out and get a 500 - 550W PSU, good quality ones aren't that expensive now.

Seasonic S-12 500W is great.

Also Corsair 520W or Antec EarthWatts 500W(both Seasonic inside)

the OCZ StealthXStream is plenty for any PC short of a dual 8800 GTS setup

Show where I said that OCZ is unreliable.OCZ is a good brand but Seasonic is better(much silent, better efficiency)

Still I find it strange the man at the store said it was no problem if I kept the 350W PSU in there.. Will it be a problem if I do leave the PSU?

by saying that you like seasonic as opposedto OCZ, you are insinuating that OCZ is unreliable

I think you should at least try it for a while and see if it works, allot of the time the cheap crap psu's work just fine, if it crashes your computer and you get errors then buy a new one.

Yes it will. Those PSU's that come with the case are very poor in quality. They say it's OK because PSU's like these only cost like $20 a piece, but usually, they charge you double or triple the money. Nice revenue, but it leaves you with a very poor setup. Also, there is another reason why this is done: the PC breaks easily that way. Result: you return the setup to the store, they "fix" the problem by just slamming another $20 PSU in there and charge you $60-75 for the services and repair. Seen it being done a lot in a lot of different stores. Bottom line is to DIY and not going cheap in any way on a PSU. Good PSU brands: Antec, PCP&C, Enermax, OCZ, Seasonic (and it's spec'd Corsair's), Zippy Specific PSU's (24-pin with 4-pin CPU cable): Enermax: ENERMAX Liberty ELT620AWT OCZ: OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXS-SLI Seasonic spec's Corsair PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX Specific PSU's (24-pin and with 8-pin CPU cable): Enermax: Enermax Galaxy 850EWL Seasonic: SeaSonic S12 Energy Plus SS-550HT

the OCZ stealthXstream is fine. It is compatible with both 8 pin and 4 pin CPU cable
