psu smoked than liquid on first build

apevia x-cruiser with 500w psu
CPU: E5200
2gb gingle ram
Optical Drive: Samsung 20x DVD-RW SATA $25
MSI G31M3-F

ok so i just did my build from a guide well last night i built it and i turn it on and it smokes and smells and i turned it off etc and now there is liquid in the case O_O

am i completely ****ed?

im gonna take it back to where i got all the parts and get them to take a look at it >_> mum wants to come so i can get it fixed for free

oh and i used the psu in the case as i has no money after buying the build so i thought id make do with the psu till i get some moneys

Its gotta be your power supply. Do you have a video card in your system? The power supply cannot supply enough power to the video card, and the transistor things inside prob. blew up.

Yep, that's a nasty, cheap power supply. The PSU is the one part of the system that you should never ever skimp on, not even a little bit, as it's the one part of the system that can break and take out the rest of your system with it. Get a good PSU even if it means spending an extra $100.

oh yea, get a 520 watt corsair. They make good psus. Rosewill has good budget power supplies, their 500watt psu has run for over 2 years, clean, and powerful still.
