I'm Having what I think is a strange problem. I'll be computing away when out of nowhere I'll get a power spike (I think) and my system will just shut down. I'm plugged into a Cyber Power 425va battery power strip but whatever happens just bypasses that and the PSU shuts me down. My PSU is a COOL MASTER Real Power Pro RS-650-ACAA-A1.

My questions are first will this be the PSUs fault and could another PSU fix it? Or are there UPSs out there that run the system from them isolated from the incoming power thus making a power spike moot?

Are you sure it's a power issue? Did you check for overheating or faulty components?

This.

How long do you run your computer for and are you doing anything intensive?

My laptop does the same thing when it's been on for a long time. :P Overheats and then shuts off.

No I know I'm good there. I don't OC and I'm sure that it's not temps. I thougt that at first too. It will do it even if I'm not doing anything stressful. It usually accompanies a light flicker so I'm pretty sure in dirty power. What I think is that the PSU is doing something it may have been designed to do, not sure. But I seemed to remember UPSs that advertised clean power but I'm not finding this anymore or maybe I'm not looking in the right place or hard enough.

In any case this the avenue I'm traveling down for now though I do appreciate the thought.
