Ok, so I have:
Q6600 overclocked to 3.0ghz
a thermaltake maxorb cooler
2 antec tri-cool case fans
2 stock apevia case fans
all inside an apevia x-plorer case
(Also I have a P5K SE, HD4870 and a 750W PSU if needed).
I recently changed the fans, because I used to only have all stock.
I have one Antec fan as an exhaust on the back on high, and the other on the side of the case which blows air pretty much straight at the maxorb. I then have one Apevia fan blowing air out of the top and one sucking air through the front. (I should say the front of the case is poorly designed with about 2 slits for airflow)
The temps used to be about 38 idle and 62-65 under stress testing but I was playing bioshock today and when I alt-tabbed out to see how the temps were I saw that the first core was 80! So i freaked out and redid the thermalpaste and readjusted the fan... But I'm looking at my temps now and they're 52 idle... I don't want to stress test them at the moment...
So I'm wondering if anyone would be able to tell me if theres anything that could help me in this situation, could it be the positioning of the fans? The two stock fans pretty much blow as much air as the tricool on low... Also the case is pretty much split in two because the two stock fans are towards the front and the rest at the back...
Sorry about all the writing! Also thanks for any help!
