Is this just temporary? I thought the Q6600 was supposed to be $266? I'm thinking it is just a way to sell some @299 for the fools that just can't wait another 48 hrs. right. The price should drop again Sunday, right?

$266 is the price when bought in lots of 1000, I believe. people here just like to quote things out of context =)

$266 is the whole sale price, that $299 figure is probably the RRP.

Still, it wouldn't hurt to wait a couple of days.

I think that newegg buys 1000 processors for 266$ each, and cause they need to make some profit they higher the price for 33$. I think that price will stay the same. They cant sell procesors whitout making any profit.

Price per 1k is what we have seen at the major retail sites for the last 5 or 6 pricings...

If I can get a promised G0 stepping Q6600 for $279-$299, I better be able to get a random Q6600 for less then that.

I think it wont. We will see Q6700 which isnt "extreme" chip and the price will be lower. Dont know for sure. Better wait for Lord reply.

Just in case people want to get in on that, you might want to note that they're guaranteed to be waiting until at least August, more likely September to get it. I'm tempted to go for that, regardless.. just put down $5 for a shot at getting a good stepping in the future.
